Julia is not a feminist retelling of Orwell‘s book in my opinion. Not at all. A YA retelling maybe, at the most.
Julia felt very one dimensional to me, not like a real person nor a feminist one. The plot was flat too, I really can‘t understand the praise for this book. One of my least favorites of the #Litsy2024 shortlist.

Hooked_on_books Very interesting! I‘m about to start 1984 today so I can get to Julia thereafter. Now I‘m intrigued! 9mo
kwmg40 I started this one with high hopes but am struggling to continue. It just feels very flat compared to Orwell's book, but given that some have praised the book highly, I'm not sure I'm ready to abandon it yet. 9mo
