Stopped by the library to pick up a few books to get through winter break. I realized I‘m at 29 completed for the year so I need to finish one more for a nice round number! Choosing to Run seems like a good motivational book as we hurtle toward the new year.

Book 4. In their tall brownstone in Harlem, the Vanderbeekers (Isa, Jessie, Oliver, Hyacinth, Laney and parents) are as always trying to make their neighborhood a safer and better place…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️If you‘re into the running world and people‘s personal journeys. I remember when Des won the Boston Marathon 2018. I had to leave to work and was secretly trying to watch it while working on a patient. A rare year of catastrophic weather and an underdog type story. There was so much adrenaline. Des is down to earth and gifted in the sport of running. Thanks for sharing your story.

As someone who is just getting into ultrarunning, I felt like this book was very comprehensive and a great educational tool to equip me for my first season of competition. It answered many questions I didn't know I had and was a terrific resource for me. I feel much better informed and prepared to race (at least...mentally) after reading this book. And apparently the second edition is 100+ pages longer. #ultrarunning #marathon

"...essential guidance to anyone dreaming big dreams" sums this book up nicely. I enjoyed this and learned a lot more than I expected to, both about Alexi and about myself. And I feel more inspired to show up and put in the hard and mundane work to chase some of my dreams that I've decided are real.

This book poses the question of whether or not we will ever see a marathon run in two hours or less. It was published in 2015. In 2019, Eliud Kipchoge became the first to do so with a time of 1:59:40. But even if this milestone has already been reached, this book is still interesting and worth reading.

With a name like Dick Pound, you would assume that he would be a porn star, not a lawyer.🤣

KT1432 How is that possible?! I would freeze lol! I think I‘m going to read this for a challenge prompt a book about athletes. 1y
keithmalek @KT1432 In that case, instead of reading this, I suggest that you read "A Race Like No Other: 26.2 Miles Through the Streets of New York" by Liz Robbins. 1y
KT1432 Ah thanks for the recommendation I‘ll look that one up! 1y
keithmalek @KT1432 Keep in mind that the elite runners are moving VERY fast. You might freeze, but I can assure you that they would not. 1y
KT1432 That makes sense! 1y

🤣 If I ever run a marathon, I'm going to do this.
