As someone who is just getting into ultrarunning, I felt like this book was very comprehensive and a great educational tool to equip me for my first season of competition. It answered many questions I didn't know I had and was a terrific resource for me. I feel much better informed and prepared to race (at least...mentally) after reading this book. And apparently the second edition is 100+ pages longer. #ultrarunning #marathon

Another book I‘m starting tonight! I get to have a live chat with the author next month!

Yeesh. Really wanted to like this one 😕

llcoolnate Audio booked this one and it may have been a bad choice. No disrespect to his wife, but what a poor choice to have her narrate. Oh man. Otherwise the story itself was okay, but rather self-agrandizing. I get it when the feat is that awesome that this comes with the territory, and props to Scott for real, but it was a little much at times. Really was excited for it..oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️ 3y

This book tells how the author covered 2,189 miles in 46 days, 8 hours, and 7 minutes. He hiked the entire Appalachian Trail from the southern bottom to the northern top. It was a great story about personal drive and endurance. It was also a great story about friendships and teams of people working together. I hate running but I would love to be a part of such a quirky and beautiful group of people.

I don‘t understand what motivates people to do these ultra marathons. It all seems to be very painful and I can‘t help but think about what injuries you might get stuck with. But it‘s sure interesting to read about!
