pickI enjoyed this book of connected short stories about two sisters from Hardscrabble Bay, New Brunswick. The stories take place over a span of 70 years and are sort of like Anne of Green Gables or Sarah Plain and Tall but with sex and swearing. So many Littens would love this book. Check it out!
pickI‘m still working on #FoodAndLit Canada. Pearly Everlasting is about a girl who rescues her brother who just happens to be a bear. It was a good listen! Set in New Brunswick during the Great Depression- it would have made a great family road trip audiobook.
pickBeautiful story, so well written. I had never read anything about life at sea in the 1860s. Beth Browning is a wonderful Canadian author who managed to bring this time period to life. I will be reading her book “ The Sister‘s Tale” in the near future.

Audiobook
This was not a typical book choice for me, but I really enjoyed the Atlantic Canada-ness of it all. This coming of age story takes place in the 1960s, in New Brunswick. The story is told by a young girl in a small town that is about to be underwater - a calculated consequence of building the Mactaquac Dam. I enjoyed the audio, as the narrator's distinctly Maritime voice provided an extra bit of authenticity.
pickThis was an absolutely delightful book ❤️❤️ so much art and intrigue and magic! I was a bit teary at the very end. Time to get my novel study ideas organized and on the computer for next week

@TheLudicReader ... Well, it wasn't easy to wait until my birthday, but boy, am I glad I did! I can't thank you enough for the lovely presents all representing your Canadian home. I am loving the Cole tea (I even made it into iced tea, and it was FABULOUS!), I already ate too many maple candies (like Ross in Friends), and the book looks very intriguing! ⬇️
