Baz, Simon and Penny take a road trip to America, where they encounter big cities, large open spaces, soggy sandwiches, cukture shock, and loads of vampires. This book has the same characters as Carry On, but a completely different setting and plot. The dialogue is brilliant as usual, the action is well-written, there is a mystery and vampire slaying. The relationship trouble was unecessary, but otherwise really fun. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Sounds fun! 2mo
Gezemice @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Oh yes you would enjoy it. You probably would care for the romance, too ;) 2mo
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice I probably would! 2mo

GingerAntics Interesting. Illinois and Iowa are not known for pig farming. They actually farm corn, wheat, and cows. That must be cow pies they were smelling. 2mo
Gezemice @GingerAntics I live in Illinois, there are no pig farms just endless corn and soybeans. She is syaing the difference is that Iowa has pig farms in addition to endless corn fields. But I picked this quote because a large part of the book is about them marveling at the things that are different in America from England. (edited) 2mo
GingerAntics Woops, forgot about the soybeans. Sorry. lol Yeah, there are a lot of differences. 2mo
Scochrane26 I laughed at this part because Illinois is so boring to drive through (at least from ky to St. Louis). Haven‘t been to Iowa. 2mo
Gezemice @Scochrane26 @GingerAntics I laughed too because I live in Illinois. We say there is variety! Sometimes you get corn on one side, soybean on the other. Sometimes soy on both sides. Sometimes corn on both sides. Scenic! 2mo
GingerAntics Exactly! lol 2mo
eraderneely I was once driving I-70 from Denver to Ohio and just lining the state maps up side to side. I thought I would be in Indianapolis by dinner, then heard someone mention Chicago on the radio and thought “oh crap, I forgot Illinois!” [we didn‘t go through Iowa that trip, but is it really so different?) 2mo
LibrarianRyan @Gezemice yep. Most of the hog farms have closed. I don‘t know where your at, I‘m at the capitol, but my Gramps use to run one of those hog farms in Charleston. 2mo
Clare-Dragonfly Is she going to continue the series with the rest of the song lyrics? 🤔 2mo
Gezemice @eraderneely Indiana and Ohio are probably even worse lol 2mo
Gezemice @LibrarianRyan I am in Urbana - there is cow farm but they don‘t smell too bad. The university has a large animal farm to the south for research that we smell occasionally when the wind blows from the south - thankfully it is rare 2mo
Gezemice @Clare-Dragonfly I don‘t know. “For there'll be peace when you are done” is not very catchy as a book title. 🤔 2mo
LibrarianRyan @Gezemice oh yes. I know that farm. I did some “research” there for a class in high school. 2mo
Gezemice @LibrarianRyan Oh really? I guess you know the town then... 2mo
LibrarianRyan @Gezemice Oh yeah. I was the Director of the Mattoon Library for 8 years. My parents are from Oakland, and home was always my grandmothers in Learna (Outside Charleston). I'm a military brat and it was the only house that never moved. If you wanted to do any type of real shopping you had to go to Chambana. I have only been in Springfield 2 years. 2mo
Gezemice @LibrarianRyan That‘s awesome! We are close! We should meet sometime! Although I kinda doubt that “real shopping” applies to Chambana any more. Stores are closing left and right... 2mo
LibrarianRyan @Gezemice Its still better than some of the smaller places. Springfield has not been hit to hard, unless you go to the mall. And we should. I normally go to the #STLmeetup, but I have been thinking of arranging one at the capitol. 2mo

Hey St. Louis Littens! So, the best reservation I could get for this weekend was for "brunch" on Sunday July 16 at 2pm! I'm thinking since the reservation is later, we can meet at Left Bank Books around 12pm to shop and/or chat and then walk down the block to MaryAnn's tea room around 1:30pm, but I'm open to suggestions! #stlmeetup

mabell Sounds good to me! 2y
abbsinwonderland Aww.. thats kind of close to me! 2y
Lmstraubie Sounds like fun! Have a great time! 2y

readinginthedark @abbsinwonderland You can come, too! 2y
MaureenMc STL Littens, I am so sorry, but it looks like I won't be able to make it on Sunday after all. ☹️ Stupid job stuff has gotten in the way. I hope you all have a fabulous time, & I hope I can join the next meet up! 2y
mabell @MaureenMc @readinginthedark @Bklover I can still attend tomorrow, but I wouldn't be opposed to rescheduling for when we can all make it. 2y
readinginthedark Oh, sorry about your work stuff, @MaureenMc ! I'm thinking those of us who can should go ahead and meet tomorrow, since we already have the reservation at the tea room (and I like having an excuse to go to a bookstore without my husband or son). And then we could all meet-up again later in a month or two, maybe when @vivastory will be in town, too? How does that sound? @mabell @Bklover @abbsinwonderland 2y
Bklover I'm not going to be able to make it. I'm so sorry. Just can't do it financially right now. Maybe next time you get together I'll be able to. I hope you all have a wonderful time. ❤️to you all! (edited) 2y
vivastory I'd definitely be interested in meeting St. Louis littens. I'll be there the final weekend of September. 2y
readinginthedark @mabell @Bklover @abbsinwonderland @MaureenMc Okay, well I'll just cancel the reservation then. We'll meet up in September if not before. Does that sound good to everyone? 2y
MaureenMc @readinginthedark Yes, sounds fabulous! (I will have no job obligations getting in the way after Aug. 4 through, like, forever. 😁) Again, I'm so sorry it didn't work out for this weekend. 2y
Bklover Sounds good. I'll do my best to be able to be there in September. Thank you for all your trouble! 2y
mabell @readinginthedark Sounds good. Thank you so much for working to put this together. I'm sorry it didn't work out for this weekend, but I'm looking forward to the next one! 2y
readinginthedark @mabell @Bklover @MaureenMc No problem! Sounds like we were all a little busier than usual right now. Ironic, since it's summer! 😆 2y

Hey St. Louis area Littens! A few weeks ago we talked about getting together. I know I've gotten distracted and fallen behind a bit, but I'd still like to do this. My calendar says Saturday July 8: lunch at MaryAnn's Tea Room and then a stop at Left Bank Books. If you're coming, let me know, please. Or if you're interested but this doesn't work for you, tell me! There aren't very many of us, so we can be a bit flexible with things. #stlmeetup

MaureenMc @readinginthedark I'm in! Did we decide on a time yet? @Bklover 2y
readinginthedark @MaureenMc No, but I think the tea room opens around 11 or 12, so probably as early as we could, unless you guys would rather hit the bookstore first? I'm completely free that day; whatever is best for you guys, just let me know. 2y
mabell I'm interested in joining! 2y

readinginthedark @mabell 👍🏻Does the date and rough timeframe work for you? I know it's kind of short notice. 2y
mabell Plenty of notice 😊 Saturday at 11 or 12 works for me! 2y
readinginthedark @mabell Perfect! I'll keep you tagged in the updates! 2y
Bklover Sorry- been out of town. I think I can make that. Can't wait to meet everyone! 2y
readinginthedark @Bklover No worries! I fell behind, but I'll call and set it up today! 😊 2y
Bklover Oh no! Just realized this Saturday have company coming. Please go ahead and meet and I will join up next time! 2y
readinginthedark @Bklover @mabell @MaureenMc Well, I've been having some car trouble this week. And I talked to the tea room today, and they can't squeeze us in on Saturday at all. 😕Do you all want to postpone until July 15 or 16? 2y
mabell I was going to have to regret, as we have to attend an out-of-town funeral. Postponing to either date would be great for me! 2y
mabell P.S. I'm sorry to hear about your car trouble! 2y
MaureenMc @readinginthedark @Bklover @mabell I'm fine with next weekend (15 or 16). Hopefully that'll work better for everyone. 😊 2y
