Penny_LiteraryHoarders I've got 2 books to read in 7 days so I'm just sitting here with a fire going (snow today too with this announcement!) and book one underway! 3y
KVanRead Stay safe!! 3y
rabbitprincess @Penny_LiteraryHoarders Yikes, you got snow? Ottawa managed to escape it, thank goodness 😬 @KVanRead Glad to be able to work full time from home and have someone else doing the grocery shopping! 3y

I finished 6 books in Round 2 of the #ShutdownReadathon. Conveniently, the end of this event also coincides with the end of the shutdown in my part of Ontario. We're moving out of shutdown into “red“ status, so things are still far from normal but a little less restrictive than they've been.

Thanks, @Squidget, for hosting and making the shutdown less onerous!

DieAReader Happy to help😉 Great job & thanks for joining in! (edited) 3y

Had a very slumpy February, which means it took me two weeks to read the same number of books I read in the first week of #ShutdownReadathon Round 2 😶

Pickpick

A re-read from my university days. An inventive concept and powerful storytelling about the war. Also I‘ve been getting the planet‘s name wrong for years: I‘ve been calling it Tralfalmadore (two L‘s in there) instead of Tralfamadore.
#ShutdownReadathon round 2 book 10

MsMelissa I really need to read this. I thought I‘d put the e-book on hold at the library but it turns out I didn‘t. 3y
rabbitprincess @MsMelissa I quite liked it on re-reading, which was a relief! 3y

Pickpick

Set during the Berlin airlift, this was a solid thriller with lots of nerdy plane stuff, which is what I was expecting.

Panpan

A retelling of Aladdin with Jasmin and Jafar but characters roles were inverted. I thought this would be a dark romance but this is an erotica novel with sex all the time in a dark, toxic, unhealthy way with not much plot/action. The author warned about “depictions of consensual non-consent sex”. It is very graphic. If you liked 50 Shades of Gray you maybe like this one. For me was so-so to Pan.

DieAReader I hate it when books don‘t turn out like I want/expect. Great job with all the #ShutdownReadathon reads! 3y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Oh no. I was thinking of reading this one for the fairytale retelling reading challenge, as I thought it sounded dark too. But I think I'll pass now. 3y

Gissy @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Maybe it will be good if you try the first pages, you never know. There were some pages ok but it is almost sex all the time but it has good rating 3.5 in GR. I follow some YouTubers that highly recommend it and that was the reason I read it. I don‘t know if I‘m going to try the second book. 50 Shades of Grey was difficult for me. I‘m open to read these topics but it was quiet toxic. 3y
TheAromaofBooks Sounds like an intriguing premise, but probably a little too far into the erotica column for me!! 3y
Gissy @TheAromaOfBooks I‘m open to this topics but sometimes I will like to see more in the plot, but try it, you never know, maybe the first chapters. It has an average rating of 3.5⭐️. I read it because it was highly recommended by various YouTubers. I maybe try the second book to see if it is different. 3y
Andrew65 Oh dear! Well done on finishing it. 👏👏👏 3y
