Although very interesting, the technicality & high density is beyond my ability to retain/remember.
I‘ll just enjoy the music & compositions from the greats without trying to tear them apart🎧🎻🎹😏

I listen to non-fiction to put me to sleep (I used to read, this is nicer.) But 1) It takes months to finish a book 2) there are sections I miss, regardless of “rewinding“
I recognized names & places, but had never really put things together. Listening to this gave me context and the ability to tie it all together for the first time.
One note: he has a verbal tick of drawing out “aaaaaand“ which can get annoying. But not a huge deal.

I very much enjoyed listening to this series of lectures. (This isn't in the database so I tagged another title of her.)
A fairly short but nicely detailed history of 1066 and the Norman Conquest. The lectures talk about what led to and what happened during the Battle of Hastings, and the way life changed for the English people as a result. The professor (Jennifer Paxton) is super enthusiastic and knowledgeable, which made these lectures a lot of fun for me. Total time: 3 hours, 1 minute.
Have you ever enjoyed reading/listening to something so much, it made you tired? That‘s me with this Great Courses audiobook. I‘m such a nerd for medieval history—the professor Jennifer Paxton is too, quite obviously. Her enthusiasm made these lectures something I looked forward to. I felt like she was talking directly to me about these kings and queens and their politics. I‘m buying another of her Great Courses audiobooks right this second.
My current listen. Absolutely riveting, I love it.
#TheGreatCourses is offering this class for a fair price: The Art of Reading.
I think we‘re all an expert on this 😉
