*Sigh*... is she sure this is for adults? I‘ve never read (or even heard of) The Outsiders, but I hate it already. 🥃🥃🥃 #WhyIDontWritePoetry #ThisIsGoingBadly My ancestors are dying (again) with laughter at this BS. What does ANY of this have to do with writing poetry? (Yes, I saw that she turned her cutesy little thing into a poem in the middle, thanks. I don‘t think this is how my ancestors (or the modern Irish) learned to write poetry.
GingerAntics @CBee I have yet to write a single thing that is even remotely, only-close-if-you‘re-drunk-and-thinking-really-abstractly close to poetry. “This is a metaphor, now write a poem” isn‘t working out for me so much. 4y
GingerAntics @CBee OH I GOT ONE!!! “This book is like a red red rose, accept I think roses smell like piss so that simile still works.” 4y
RainyDayReading I remember reading The Outsiders in school. It was actually quite good! From what I remember at least. There‘s also a play version of it that is also well done. 4y

GingerAntics @RainyDayReading she made it sound really sappy. I just looked it up. Maybe I found the wrong book, but it actually sounds good (and it has a Ponyboy which I‘m really hoping is a nickname because wow that is a terrible thing to name your kid otherwise). 4y
CBee @GingerAntics 😂😂😂😂 I do think you‘re being hard on yourself. You did say you‘re an overachiever! I‘ve not read The Outsiders but it‘s a much-loved book. And Ponyboy is a nickname 😁 4y
GingerAntics @CBee well, thank god in the Ponyboy thing. The book hasn‘t done much yet to inspire creativity. 4y
RainyDayReading @GingerAntics From what memory serves, sappy is definitely not a word I would use for The Outsiders 🤣 As long as it‘s by S.E. Hinton you‘ve got the right one. Ponyboy is a nickname thankfully! Can you imagine truly naming a child that? Granted there are some weird names out there...like Pilot Inspektor (I wish I was kidding). I remember our class asked to read The Outsiders twice because of how much we loved it. 4y
GingerAntics @RainyDayReading oh wow. English classes pretty much NEVER ask to read something again. That is impressive. I saw a comment where someone said “who names their kid Ponyboy?” and I was a little concerned. It definitely seems like a nickname. Wait, someone really named their child (legal name on the birth certificate and everything) Pilot Inspektor? They couldn‘t even spell inspector correctly when they did it? That poor kid!!! 4y
RainyDayReading @GingerAntics Yep! I was surprised, but our teacher was delighted. Legal name, birth certificate and everything. I‘m not sure they wanted to spell it correctly 😅 which makes it worse. It‘s a child of some celebrity, I didn‘t recognize the name. But Pilot is 17 now I guess so...there‘s that. 4y
GingerAntics @RainyDayReading I just looked it up. Good grief it‘s Jason Lee‘s kid and they went off and put him in a movie when he was 8. God help the kid. I wonder what he goes by? I‘m trying to think of a logical nickname for that and I‘m coming up empty. 4y
GingerAntics @RainyDayReading as a teacher, if you can get your students that excited about ANYTHING, you‘ve just won teacher of the year, quite frankly. 4y
