bailedNot even Nashville hot chicken could make me get into this. I gave it 64 pages and I'm moving on. This reminded me of why I don't enjoy a lot of historical fiction anymore. Too much explaining historical details, too much time spent on the setting at the expense of plot and character. Plus an annoying MC who hammers out every point. The author needed to trust the reader more.

My_novel_obsession I had never heard of Nashville hot chicken until a few days ago when I was in a restaurant in DC. I ordered it and although the chicken was a little too spicy for me, they served it with sweet potato pancakes which were amazing and my new favorite thing!! 6y
