Seriously, it was a labour, but worth it.
This is the dinner l prepared for my nephews last night. I did everything fron scratch. Including the rolls. Really drove me crazy, those!
Quite happy with myself 😊

This book is a collection of things that merge together into an interesting history of cows. It has poetry, recipes, animal husbandry, anatomy, horticulture, mythology, religion, anecdotes, bullfighting, art, cultural iconography, & appreciation for the legacy of all things bovine, from dairy cows to beef cattle. Surprisingly enjoyable, interesting, & educational read. Even compelled me to look up a lot of cattle breeds, maps, & art references.
"He could not rage in fierce arguments in the presence of such sandwiches. During his meals he always wore an air of blissful contemplation of the food he had swallowed. His spirit seemed then to be communing with the viandes."

I have voice students late this afternoon, so hubby is cooking dinner. I know the meatball dish he‘s making is only loosely based on one in this old cookbook that we got as a wedding gift, but until I walked into the kitchen, I didn‘t realize he had written out directions for himself. Reading this cracked me up. I couldn‘t fit it into the photo, but later he refers to the “epidermis” of the meatballs 🤦♀️
? In the very midst of this MB prize nominee ~ a wonderful companion for my lunch today. The novel is well-written, with a very comfortable reading flow & I am enjoying the slight tension that pops up at every second chapter.
? Pick up this book if you feel in the mood for reading a different sort of "crime" novel, with a nice classic feel to it.
