I was all set to binge read some fiction on this rainy morning—until I remembered Karamo‘s book is due in a few days and I‘ve still got a ton of chapters left. I read two just now and I‘m feeling a lot of love for him. #caseyplusbooks

Rain‘s back. We‘re being lazy.

I wanted to do #24b4monday this weekend, but I‘ve had a lot less reading time than I expected and I‘m only at 9:30 after the chunk I just did. Oh well. It was a spur of the moment thing anyways. #caseyplusbooks

I wasn‘t really feeling DROP DEAD BEAUTIFUL at 300 pages in, so I took a break from it and decided to reassess once I‘d read something else. Much to my surprise, I DO want to finish it now I‘ve had some time away. Here goes.

A certain somebody helped me dig into Japanese literature this afternoon. #caseyplusbooks

Somehow, I thought THE BACKSTAGERS was a mostly realistic comic about teenage theatrical types. It‘s actually about a bunch of misfits who navigate the magical tunnels underneath their high school theatre, and it‘s A DELIGHT! Tynion and Sygh give all the metaphorical wonder and mystery that makes theatre so exciting a literal twist, with plenty of danger blended in. I requested vol 2 the moment I finished because I need MORE. #caseyplusbooks

This anthology offers a chronological tour through Caribbean literature published between the 1920s and the late 1990s. It‘s a good retrospective with a few oddities, like the editors‘ failure to state each writer‘s nationality at the beginning of each story. Brace yourself for rape culture and dodgy colonial shit, too. The whole package is worth it as a literary artifact, but it often felt Good For Me rather than enjoyable. #caseyplusbooks

This was a lot of fun! As pretty well every comics commentator has pointed out, it‘s basically DC Does The Fantastic Four, minus the family angle but with craploads of space adventures, multiversal shenanigans, and ever-evolving team dynamics. I like these characters and I want to see where they‘ll end up next as they try to break the dark matter bond that ropes them together. Who wants to bet they ARE a family by then? #caseyplusbooks
