Pickpick

This was an emotionally draining roller coaster of a read for me. My feelings were all over the place for Mark, Guilia and their extended families. I thought Mark wrote this story beautifully, bravely & honestly. He really avoided sugarcoating the mental illness, the treatments, policies, facilities and behaviors. This book felt very real & unflinching. A total pick and huge thank you to @Victoriahoperose who generously gifted this book to me.

Cinfhen I‘m ready to discuss @Victoriahoperose ❣️❣️❣️❣️ 6y
TrishB I seemed to have stacked previously, but not sure I could actually read 🤷‍♀️ 6y
Cinfhen It‘s a very raw look at mental illness and how quickly things can spiral. It‘s a book that can be a trigger for many @TrishB 6y

TrishB Don‘t think it‘s for me at the moment! 6y
Cinfhen 😘😘 #countingblessings the book can wait @trishb 6y
Victoriahoperose Oh good! I‘m glad you liked it. I had gotten as an ARC and wasn‘t sure how I would like it. I think I liked how genuine it was the most. 6y
Cinfhen So unflinching @Victoriahoperose but I was surprised that Giulia kept returning to work...it seemed her jobs were ultimately the anxiety triggers that kept her spiraling. I felt for Mark, I thought he was such a supportive spouse and amazing parent but I wondered if being Mr. Fix It /Superman was his own rush/ drug ,the constant he needed... so much sadness and that heavy sense of implosion 6y
Cinfhen My heart aches for caregivers and those affected with mental health issues. I have new found respect for their daily struggle 6y
Victoriahoperose I agree with you. But, I liked that he was candid. That he wasn‘t the one to say he was the best. He still got upset or frustrated and it was so relatable. But, in the end he loves her and I almost want to know more now. Like, how is she doing now? How is he? 6y
Cinfhen I almost googled them today but I‘m scared to find out if she‘s had additional breakdowns @Victoriahoperose (edited) 6y
Victoriahoperose Yea I know how you feel. Hopefully he will write another book! 6y
