This Is Sweden Calling | Des Mangan

Been in Sweden three hours and found a beautiful little science fiction and fantasy bookshop a couple streets from my hotel in Gamla Stan! It was super busy when I went in. They had a lot of books in English, I want to go back when it‘s less busy and speak to someone about any English translations of Swedish authors they‘d recommend. I‘d love to pick up some cool things that I couldn‘t have got as easily in London

Weaponxgirl @julesG I've seen a fair amount of people not liking it but I thought the message was great combined with a great performance. Yes, you are a beautiful creature netta. And yes, the public vs jury is so different. Think a lot of politics plays in with jury's along with them trying to pick more worthy songs. 6y

Cinfhen His restaurant (Zahav) is oddly enough in Philadelphia, where I‘m originally from 💕and the food is delish @Weaponxgirl If you‘re in the UK this Israeli chef has a few restaurants that are meant to be amazing

Weaponxgirl @Cinfhen ah yes, I've never been to his restaurants but I tried cooking his chargrilled broccoli and it was a hella lot of work for the results. I love his cookbooks and his column in the guardian but the man does make me swear quite a lot when cooking his recipes due to the faff involved. 6y

Not book related but does anyone else love this as much as me? Graham Norton being sassy, the campness and the politics of voting! I love it all and wondered why this wasn't a part of the remain campaign 😉
Also China is no longer allowed to stream it as they cut a gay couple singing together during the semi finals, they do not mess about China! So night off in on my own tomorrow, getting drunk and having Eurovision fun! #Eurovision

Clare_Riley @Weaponxgirl Eurovision is my favourite!! I love the tackiness and the worse the songs are, the better!! My husband is away this weekend (doing a triathlon - uncannily well planned🙄), so I‘ll be sat with my wine on my own, kids in bed, singing along!!😆 6y

rockpools Yes! I actually watched the semi-finals this year and can confirm there's an acceptable quantity of bonkers in there. And I LOVE the predictable voting. Need to do a wine-and-snacks run in the morning though. 6y

Cinfhen This is totally NOT a US thing!! I only discovered Eurovision when I moved overseas!!! It‘s soooooo kitschy 🙄but it‘s hilarious and over the top in its cheesiness 6y
