Not my usual sort of read, but I thought this was great! Completely bonkers plot, very very funny, and some amazing characters! Will definitely be reading some more Hiaasen.
And 2 lines in #bookspinbingo which I think is a record for me!

I really enjoyed reading about following the striped bass migration southward. The author stops in many places and sees firsthand what this migratory path means to the community.
Another Peter Heller banger! It was fun to discover that the protagonist was one of the two main characters from The River 😊

I‘ve been meaning to post this since my trip last month…
📗 Old Venus (signed) from George R. R. Martin‘s bookstore, Beastly Books
📕 The Painter, set in Santa Fe, found used in op.cit. books
Even though there are only 2 books, they‘re hardcover and they would only fit in my carry-on so I still feel this fits the definition of “haul.” 😅
I probably wouldn‘t use this within the school, just because it is a little longer of a story and there is not much of a plot, I feel like the students would enjoy reading it bu maybe independently.
The Real Story of Stone Soup by Ying Chang Compestine published in 2007 is a story that talks about the folktale about stone soup. This story tells what the true story is. Thorough this story, 3 boys go on a day fishing, when it is time for lunch they have to figure out how to cook without the pot and they make a soup from the ground. The three boys put rocks in their soup and the older man questioned it but discovered how delicious it was.
This is a sequel to The River although I feel like it works as a stand alone as well. Overall I enjoyed it but will admit the build up was paced nicely but the ending felt rushed. I don‘t care for it as much as I did The River but I still found it immensely enjoyable.
