I loved this book. It was so inspiring and I learned a lot from reading it. I loved learning about different runners and techniques. This was such an excellent book to read for anyone, but especially if you are a runner.
I just can‘t with this book anymore. If you are into martial arts for the sport, the exercise, the community - if you‘re more into forms than sparring - this book is absolutely NOT written for you. If you‘re into martial arts to win fist fights (street fights is Christensen‘s preferred term), to beat people up, to find new, unique, inventive, and technical ways to hurt people…

Anyone else see a problem here? This guy goes on and on about how he was a cop and all the fist fights he got into. A motorist is angry, so your response is to elbow him in the face repeatedly? This guy is straight up obsessed with beating people up. He doesn‘t give a crap about sport, his in it to beat people up. I don‘t feel like this is what martial arts are supposed to be about these days.

This was okay. I listened on #audio and likely wouldn‘t have stayed with it otherwise. No real new info, the parts the Dr. contributed were worthwhile and encouraging, the main author was a bit annoying and, honestly, sexist. This one hasn‘t aged well but the basic premise, keep moving, don‘t eat crap, and stay engaged with your community, is valid. I finished it at my gym that just opened! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

I'm not big on resolutions, but I can get on board with these lifestyle tweaks.
This is jam-packed full of great tips to make a difference in your life. I hope it's of help.

(2009) I'd have read this sooner, but I knew it mostly as the book that started the barefoot/minimalist running movement, which never appealed to me (the minimalist runners I knew seemed to have the same injuries as everyone else). My loss: yes, there's the boo!-shoes stuff, yes the tone is hyperbolic, but its heart is an engaging account of running, evolution, kindness, joy, and people who run very very well -- a pleasure front to back.
An easy read & lots to think about. I still prefer Can‘t Hurt Me by the Seal himself!
I‘ve heard nothing but good things about my current audiobook. Just started it, but so far so good!
