I‘ve got an FMA binge in my near future! I managed to get ahead of the other readers by requesting the individual volumes instead of the 3-in-1s, which worked out especially well because somebody recently STOLE the next omnibus. (Boo, library thieves!) I don‘t think I‘ll be able to get any more until late January thanks to some dogsitting gigs that‘ll make it tough for me to access the library, but I‘m gonna enjoy this pre-hiatus glut.
A Chinese feast yesterday means my favourite Hunan-style lotus root for breakfast today!
My epic FMA reread isn‘t going as well as my food. I wanted to do it in September & October, but others had the same idea and the person right in front of me in the holds queue is the type to pick their books up at the end of the wait period and keep ‘em out the full 3 weeks. I‘ve only just got vols 4, 5, & 6, and I‘ll have spotty library access in January.
This morning I went into Toys R Us on a whim and got an Edward Elric Funko Pop for cheap. I‘m all kinds of delighted with him: he‘s got a cool design, I can enjoy all sides of said design at once because he‘s short enough to fit in front of the reflective bracer on my bookshelf, and he‘s given me an excellent excuse to think about how much I love FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST. It‘s all about people who do the right thing even when it‘s the hardest thing. ❤️

I finished another volume of FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST over breakfast, which means I‘ve read EVERY SINGLE THING I‘ve got out from the library! That hasn‘t happened to me in years! Even during lockdown, I had a couple print stragglers and a bunch of digital borrows waiting for their time to come.
I feel all smug now, but I‘m totally gonna borrow more stuff later, soooo…
I‘ve got serious outdoor reading plans for today. I‘m finally gonna get back to FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST!
I‘m also gonna try this tamarind soft drink. I love tamarind but had no idea such things existed until it turned up at Freshco. Given how few were left, I‘m gonna assume everyone else got similarly excited when they saw it there.
I got my second vaccine this morning, then celebrated with DOUGHNUTS! My local shop‘s currently selling cotton candy-flavoured trans pride doughnuts for charity.
I also read a goodly chunk of FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST while I waited around. Time to request some more volumes from the library.
Gonna settle in with vol 5 of FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST tonight. Vol 4 gave me a couple of WHOA moments, so I‘m hoping the series continues to grow on me.
pickSeeing how Granny reacted to Honiehiem in the manga made me like her a bit more. “Yeah he‘s useless but he‘s still your dad” really hit home.
Like she realizes he‘s not the best but she also sees the poor fella isn‘t all that bad.
Also Havocs big scene almost broke me.
4-5 stars.
pickIdk why but I laughed hard with this volume!
Loooooved seeing more of the Mustang Gang and I adored bits of dialogue that didn‘t make the cut for the show. 5 stars.
