My least favorite book from Phoebe Wahl. This is about Sonya and her chickens. She did lose a chick and had to bury her but took care of the rest of the chickens so no other ones would die. Graphics were good. I just couldn't get into the story.

A fun little novella about a woman who suddenly turns into a fox, and how her husband manages. Author was part of the Bloomsbury Group.
Although very different in style and tone, reminded me a bit of the recent memoir Raising Hare.
Both suggest humans can learn a lot from wild animals.
Another prompt complete for #192025!
I read this with my daughters who couldn't help but see themselves in the lovely fox sisters. We all adored the story of exploring nature on a chilly winter day & letting our imaginations run wild. The illustrations were mood & gorgeous. I love that they have strong personalities & want to be leaders. A snow dragon doesn't scare them at all. This is going on our favorites list to be enjoyed each year when the air is crisp. @PenguinRandomCa
“If Evan‘s Garden couldn't be a happy place, then he was going to make it the saddest place around. “
I would read this book in my classroom to show my students that grief is normal, but it can get better. Or if there was a loss of a loved one or a pet of one of my students, I would read this to the other students to help them understand.
The Rough Patch by Brian Lies. 2018. This book is an intense book about how it feels to lose a loved one. The realistic artwork and placement of words shows how important this dog was to Evan. When the dog passes the colors changed from bright to dull and the words from white to black. The lines of truck show movement and excitement as Evan tries to feel better.
