Hamilton Affair | Elizabeth Cobbs

Panpan

This is somewhere between a so-so and a pan for me. It‘s best quality is that it‘s short.
The first part of this book is quite nice. It‘s very poetic. Cobbs has taken the available records and developed a plausible story within it. All of that falls apart in part two. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics It‘s full of historical impossibilities, dialogue that would be entirely unlikely looking at what we actually know about Hamilton, and she is absolutely confused about what she‘s doing with it. If you‘re going to read it, just read part one and then walk away. #elizabethcobbs #hamiltonaffair #historicalfiction #whydoidothistomyself #HistoricalFictionInaccuracyAnnoyanceSupportGroup 5y

Seeing that this “old rhythm” wasn‘t originally this version and the original version didn‘t appear until 1830, after Alexander Hamilton was dead, the wouldn‘t have been an “old rhyme” to Hamilton. In fact, from what we know of him, he would have found it to be absolutely ridiculous. 🙄 Do you‘re homework Cobbs. Seriously. It took me three seconds on google. FFS

GingerAntics Crap, I can‘t remember the hashtag I‘m supposed to use. I saved it around here somewhere... #HistoricalFictionInaccuracyAnnoyanceSupportGroup @julesg SAVE ME!!! All the waxing poetic about his affair with Maria Reynolds, the BS about Elisa felt unloved (zero evidence for that), and now this?! What idiots find this to be a historical account?! FFS (edited) 5y
