It seemed for a time that everyone on Litsy was reading this book. I‘m finally getting to it. Such a sweet read. The NY author begins writing to a bookstore in England in order to find rare secondhand books at a good price. She ends up becoming very fond of the employees, sending them packages of food that are unavailable to them during wartime and staying in touch with the employees and their families for years. It‘s a quick and touching read.

BooksandCoffee4Me I‘ve seen it and after reading your post, I know I need to read this. 1d

This hilarious epistolary novel is full of snark, literary references, and a surprising amount of heart.

Jason Fitger is a lit/creative writing professor at a small college and he is plagued with requests for letters of recommendations for students and colleagues. He is also on a mission to get his star pupil published, get in his ex-wife‘s good graces, and make everybody hate the economics department as much as he does.

My #bookspin pick will be a Library Book

I didn't do particularly well in April's #BookSpinBingo -- didn't finish my #BookSpin or #DoubleSpin selections and didn't get any bingos. Oh well, better luck next month! As always, it was fun making the attempt. Thanks for hosting, @TheAromaofBooks

Ruthiella Some months are just like that. Better luck in May! 🤞 1w

What an absolutely lovely little book! I‘m not crying —YOU‘RE crying.

This collection of letters between an American scriptwriter and the staff of a British bookstore in London restores my faith in humanity and confirms my belief that book people are the best people.

Listen to the audiobook —the narrators are delightful.

Ruthiella This book! It‘s just beautiful. ❤️😢 1w
