I love books about books. GREAT NOVELS is a well-executed book for what it sets out to be: a visually-driven, accessible introduction to world literature. Its value lies in its ability to demystify, educate, and inspire. It is a fantastic gateway book—a starting point for a deeper journey into literature, not the destination itself. Its approach is like that of a curated museum tour, not a semester course in literature.

DGRachel That sounds like fun! 3mo

Dreaming of Dead People | Rosalind Belben

Pickpick

I was intrigued by the intro describing Rosalind Belben's books as hard to read but impossible to forget. After reading this one, I'm not sure I agree with ithat statement. I found this book easy to read. Parts are memorable, but I don't feel it'll be a lingering one for me. Belben writes both plainly and with a poetic quality. Overall, it's a slight pick.

This science fiction short story features in two of Bradbury's collections: A MEDICINE FOR MELANCHOLY and S IS FOR SPACE. Neither disappoints. Loved teaching this one in my science fiction unit. Bradbury's prose is poetic and terrifying.

Lin3han One of my favorite stories to read to my 7th graders!! 13mo

Two Stories | Mark Haddon, Virginia Woolf
post image
Pickpick

Originally Two Stories consisted of “Three Jews” by Leonard and “The Mark on the Wall” by Virginia.

Who knew that it was possible to get so many thoughts from looking at a mark on the wall? In the introduction to the story it said that this is when we first see the author Virginia is to become and I can see that.

This edition contains a story by Mark Haddon titled “St Brides Bay” which seems to mirror Virginia‘s writing style.

AllDebooks I have this edition, too. I found it so absorbing and so relaxing to read, just letting my thoughts drfit with hers. 14mo
AnneCecilie @AllDebooks That‘s also a little dangerous. I will read and get lost in what I read and I stop and think “what did I just read?” and then I have to read it again 14mo
AllDebooks @AnneCecilie True 😅 14mo
