A fantasy in which merfolk are real and varied, and live alongside humans in a world half underwater. The writing is beautiful, descriptive and vivid, but also charged. The book provided a sharp, incisive exploration of institutionalized racism, the problems it can cause, and the lasting harm it does. In the end, the world is turned upside down on a wish, and I am eager to see what happens next.

Mermaid friends, Pearl, Tooth, and Eez, are big fans of the booze they found in a shipwreck but when they run out, they decide find more on the surface. Eez casts a spell, turning them human, but none of them thought past their first drinks. Thankfully, they find a friend who helps them navigate the human world.
Wonderful queer rep and body-positive art.

The town of Tiankawi is split between the humans & the fathomfolk. & revolution is brewing in the streets as Mira, captain of the guard, Nami, an exiled teen girl, & Cordelia, a sea witch, figure out how to keep the town from imploding.

An amazing read. The four POVs give such a diverse view of the town and the people. The world building was absolutely breathtaking. Ending felt a little rushed and too deus ex machina for my tastes. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

It‘s been a while since I‘ve picked up a graphic novel. In this one 3 drunk mermaids run out of booze underwater so the sea witch gives them legs. They have to figure out how to be human and meet a bartender who is very nice and helps them out and brings them home. There are a lot of shenanigans and they need to figure out how to become mermaids again.

Just so much fun. Love the supportive girl gang/found family vibes, respect for how hard this story went on 'free the nipple', the celebration of different body types/shapes, the uncompromising freedom to be themselves that these characters all were. Pretty sure I saw some non-binary as well as queer rep?

Probably the prettiest acknowledgments page I've seen. 🌅

This was such a fun romp. An ode to friendship and found family, alcohol, chasing a good time, and accepting yourself and others as y'all are. The artwork and color palette are lovely, and everyone is a woman, a non-binary person, and/or queer, and some folks are merfolk too. 🧜🏻‍♀️

This was fun. The colorful art, the often hilarious antics, and the queer representation made this a joy to read. I honestly didn't think I was going to enjoy the mermaids turned to humans plot, but it grew on me. The thing that brought my rating down was that I thought it ended too soon. I would have liked to see Pearl, Tooth, and Eez as mermaids interacting with their new-found friends more after turning back. Maybe there's room for a sequel.

Kenyazero I've been seeing this at my local comic store and have been thinking about getting it! I picked up an RPG book a while ago called Thirsty Sword Lesbians, which I suspect is by the same person (but of course I haven't checked yet 😏). Sounds like I'll be picking this one up next time I see it at the shop! (I finally did check and it's not the same person! I just happened to come across these two similar titles close together) (edited) 3y
psalva @Kenyazero Awesome! I hope you enjoy it. It's up for a Lambda Literary Award in Comics for 2022, but it's up against some pretty tough competition. I'm not sure if it'll win, but I still think it's worth picking up. (edited) 3y

Hi all! I had an author reach out to me about promoting a book, it is a collection of paranormal mermaid short stories by multiple authors. Above is her post from Facebook and she sent me more information about expectations and what would go into spreading the word. If you are interested please let me know and I can put you in contact with her.

Thanks!!
