My #nonficpick for November. I didn't love this as much as I thought I would. I did audio, and I didn't care for Notaro's narration. I think it would have been better with a professional narrator. As for the content, it just wasn't that funny to me. Laurie often came across as a real jerk! I just didn't find her abrasive personality funny at all.

This was my #nonficpick for October and my 3rd Larson. I have a morbid fascination with natural disasters; I loved it. I didn't care for the parts that focused on the politics of the weather bureau. That bored me. But the descriptions of the chaos that ensued when the storm hit really packed a punch. It's just so horrible what these people went through. 😥 So sad that this happened. Such a tragedy. Larson tells the sad story beautifully.

Reviewsbylola I def want to read this. 5y

My #nonficpick for September. It's the history of people going over Niagara Falls, focusing mainly on one family in particular. It was really interesting. Fun fact I learned: One person who survived the plunge later died of the common cold, while another survivor later died after stepping on an orange peel! Isn't that crazy? 🍊 #nonfiction #audible #history

My #nonficpick for August. I had been meaning to read this for a while now, and was excited to find it on Hoopla. You have to *really* like baseball to enjoy this book. I learned a lot! Baseball is so incredibly intricate and complicated. I am fascinated by it. This took place in '03 and I became a Cardinals fan in '04, so it was like visiting old friends. ❤ ⚾️

My #nonficpick for February. I was intrigued by this book because I love true crime, but most true crime is about murder. So it was interesting to me that this one was about arson. The narrative wasn't quite as gripping as I was expecting. The author failed to create enough drama to get me hooked on the story. It got better after the arrests. I didn't care for the narrator; she was very robotic and her male voices were pretty horrible. #nonfiction

Movie tie-in cover, I know. 😡 This was my #nonficpick for January. I found this story of Percy Fawcett really interesting. He was obsessed with finding an ancient civilization in the Amazon and eventually disappeared looking for it. I find that kind of thing fascinating. I watched the Amazon original movie last night. (An Amazon movie about the Amazon! 😄) Not bad. #nonfiction ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mdargusch I read the book and now I need to watch the movie! 👍🏼 6y
Bookzombie I still need to watch the movie, but I found the book really interesting. 6y
