If you follow John Green on Tiktok, you know that he is incredibly intelligent and insightful. That shines through in his writing. He has such a beautiful point of view, and way of describing things, that is frankly quite poetic. I generally borrow my ebooks from the library, and if I like a book enough, I will buy a hard copy. This is one of those. Must annotate!!

This is a really good upper-MGGN, focusing on Isaac as he lives with OCD “bees” constantly buzzing in his ears. Finding friends and starting to play a TTRPG with them expand his world, until his very controlling mother shuts it all down. Being a neurotypical older sibling to a neurodivergent younger is an important theme, there are gender norms discussed, budding romance as part of finding yourself…so much really good, healthy stuff!

I was not expecting the TTRPGs in this story of a kiddo with OCD. I wish the nerdiness was more apparent from the start; I think I would‘ve been drawn in faster. I liked the hinted romance, sibling growth, and embracing the weird!
