#Pemberlittens @sprainedbrain Love the cover. IMHO screams Romance novel but it's has some serious Family Drama. Marital Rape, Suicide, Child Abandonment, etc. Not that there's any wrong with telling that story. But to Market it as a Jane Austen retelling is misleading. Only similarities is main characters broke up because parents. Yes there is a HEA but only after a lot of depressing chapters. Not a lighthearted read. #pagesofpersuasion
#Pemberlittens @sprainedbrain I'm really struggling with this one. Especially for sentiments like the above. 🙄
Anyone else reading or have read❓
Cause at this point of thinking Skim it and be done. #pagesofpersuasion
#PemberLittens Modern Day Retelling. Listened to Audiobook and Narrator is perfection. Gave me lovely flashbacks to my visit to Edinburgh and made me very hungry. And I have an overwhelming desire to bake.🎧📖🏴🍞👩🏻🍳

"Anne was tenderness itself, and she had the full worth of it in Captain Wentworth‘s affection. His profession was all that could ever make her friends wish that tenderness less, the dread of a future war all that could dim her sunshine. She gloried in being a sailor‘s wife, but she must pay the tax of quick alarm for belonging to that profession which is, if possible, more distinguished in its domestic virtues than in its national importance." ⬇️
#Pemberlittens it's hard to believe tomorrow is the last Chapter of the last book‼ What a ride❗

"Oh! you may as well take back that tiresome book she would lend me, and pretend I have read it through." - Elizabeth Elliot
#Pemberlittens Who's done this? Or Skimmed and Read the Last Chapter. ??♀️

#Pemberlittens Listening to Audio because of life and it's Juliet Stevenson. Then I read footnotes in the Annotated.
"In all her novels but her first, Northanger Abbey, there is a young man with great surface charm and attractiveness who tempts the heroine to a degree. The previous four—Willoughby, Wickham, Henry Crawford, and Frank Churchill—all prove untrustworthy in some respect, though in varying degrees."
