Sunset Song | Lewis Grassic Gibbon

My Reading Envy Road Trip brought me to Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Yesterday, my wife Lisa and I traveled to the tiny village of Arbuthnott in NE Scotland to the Lewis Grassic Gibbon Center which features a small museum with a number of artifacts from James‘ short life (1901-1935), a gift shop and a cafe. Sunset Song took place in this area so we were able to visit many sites from the novel. It was like being in Sunset Song. #readingenvyroadtrip

Picnic at Hanging Rock | Joan Lindsay

It has been a tough week and, alone in my house for the first time in a month (?!), no books were striking my fancy. Then I remembered this gem, reviewed exceptionally by @Moray_Reads and given to me by the gorgeous @MicheleinPhilly and—bonus—it counts for my #readingenvyroadtrip! Now I have wine and a great book and a peaceful heart. What would my life be without Litsy?

Susannah I just read this for my book club last month, and I thought it was really good; wonderfully atmospheric. (I was surprised to learn that it‘s considered an Australian *children‘s* classic.) I need to re-watch the movie and the new series now. 6y
