The Unteachables | Gordon Korman
Pickpick

I resisted this for some stupid reason, I was recommended to read this by a dear friend and I told her I would think about it. Instead, I inquired with Libby as to availability. In fact, I felt rather guilty that I displayed such a lack of enthusiasm to my friend that I immediately requested eBook and/or audio.

The audio is fantastic! I enjoyed this so much!! I laughed, I cried, I wanted to hug all the characters 🤣

3.5 ⭐ I listened to this is a full cast audio. The audiobook is incredibly well done. However, the last hour was missing on my digital download. Thank goodness for TBBS as they helped fill in the last hour. I was a tad sad. None of the libraries around me, had Promise Boys on audio! This is a mystery about a prep school that has some very, strict rules. The idea is to teach boys to be “men”. However, this is not a happy go lucky school,

LibrarianRyan which is obvious from first chapter when the principal is shot. The rest of the book is who did it and how. This was an entertaining read that feels real and feels very “now”. Any kid would be able to pick this up and go hey this isn‘t my school, but I see things in this that are like my school. That‘s why for me this is a book that is what I think you should read. 3mo
Gissy I liked this one too 3mo

Excellent teen mystery set in an all boys school in Washington, D.C. The principal is murdered and three boys are suspects and must work together to clear their names.

Excellent full-cast audio production.

Three young boys are accused of killing the principal. The story starts with a literal BANG. Multiple points of view share the outlooks of the suspects, families, friends, teachers, and community. There was a pretty big plot hole but overall it was an intense read that left me with just as many questions about our system as answers.

ChaoticMissAdventures @nanuska_153 it never gets old. I laugh so much now, the giving up your virginity rains down evil on you is so ridiculous, but I love every minute of it. 6mo
nanuska_153 @ChaoticMissAdventures EVERY time Buffy has sex is a catastrophe, in college she has one night stand and he is a prick; then when Riley and her are so horney that are powering a full house of horrors 😂 it has great things and very progressive with some stuff but other is like 🙄 like, 99% of what Sanders says is pfff 6mo
nanuska_153 (I usually have more words to describe than emojis and pfff, but it's early in the morning and I need a coffee) 6mo
FlynnDewey There's apparently a reboot, in comic form. They've made some...questionable changes to the source material. 6mo

I used to love the worst witch (books and TV show) along with Sabrina etc. so much witchy goodness in the 90s 🤭

This is a YA dark academia. It is about this prestigious school that “vows to turn boys into men”. They offer scholarships for disadvantaged students. But the school rules/discipline could be extreme and rigid. One day the principal was found murdered and there are three main suspects. I enjoyed this book because you will know these characters slowly so your impression about them will change like don‘t judge until you have all the facts. ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) I think this could be a good story for a movie adaptation for a YA audience. The author is a filmmaker. It discusses social topic like racism, stereotypes etc. Maybe the end and some scenes were “too easy” predictable but the story has a positive message. 3/3.5⭐️

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!
