When a friend offered to loan me this book I almost said no. Trying to clear out my #mounttbr not add to it. Decided to read asap instead of letting set on The Shelf. Almost bailed when opening scene was a description of being sick in a bathroom at Indian airport. I slogged on but it never got better. Way too many descriptions of bodily functions & filth. Travel stories should inspire you to travel. #shouldhavesaidno

JoScho But the cover looks so fun 7y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @JoScho I know! It's what made me want to read it. 7y
c4t It's a very very accurate description of India though. I found it to be very relatable, laughingly so, to my own experiences travelling around India. Right down to the staring men, the filth, the public bodily functions, the stench, the chaos, the overwhelming attack on the senses... but also captured the beauty. 10/10 4y
c4t My own first experience of India was that scene she described driving up to Delhi train station with everyone clawing zombie like at the car windows, everyone sleeping on blankets on the floor, and then I went into the toilets and Jesus Christ the stench, the mess, the explosive disgusting mess literally everywhere.... I WISH I had read her book and been prepared!! 😅😅 4y
