Dreamcatcher: A Novel | Stephen King
post image
Pickpick

There are things I really liked about Dreamcatcher and things I didn‘t care much for. I‘ve been a fan of Stephen King since I was in the ninth grade and read Misery. I felt emotionally sucked into the story line of four childhood friends remaining bonded into adulthood.

Admittedly, I am late to The World of Lore by Aaron Mahnke. I really don‘t even have a good excuse, especially since I love stories about unexplained things that go bump in the night. Well, at least I finally entered this strange world of creepy creatures, objects, and events. And I‘m so glad I made it. See https://abookandadog.com where I share my related experiences with some of the stories. #MountTBR

AshleyHoss820 Better late than never, as they say! Enjoy! It‘s so well done! ☺️ 1w

Interesting, moving, eye-opening.

I recommend this to anyone who's afraid of death. I think I took away more from this book than Roach's Stiff.

#MountTBR is one book lighter

RebelReader I loved Stiff so I will definitely check this one out! 2w

Leniverse Crossing my fingers that my copy will actually arrive before our reading retreat. 😆 2w
MatchlessMarie I love the idea of an in person reading retreat 😍 2w
IndoorDame Ooh, yes! I think more cover design artists should give thought to doing something cool like that so you‘ll enjoy looking at it on a bookshelf as much as off 2w
julesG @Leniverse Fingers crossed. Should it not work out, you're bringing your kindle, right? Then I might be able to share my copy with you. 2w
julesG @MatchlessMarie An in person reading retreat buddyread and readathon. 😁 2w
Leniverse @julesG I am definitely bringing my Kindle. But hopefully the hardcover will arrive. (And hopefully it will have the cool spine. Apparently they're only doing that for the first print run.) 2w
LeahBergen Lucky you! I‘m always so envious of these retreats. 🥰 2w

Growing up, I spent time in Nashville visiting family, so I appreciate Cash‘s reputation and understand the history of country music. I recall my Nashville relatives driving my parents and I around pointing out the mansions of famous musicians…including Johnny Cash‘s home. So, when Folsom Untold became available I clicked ‘Add to Library.‘ To continue reading my review please visit my book blog https://abookandadog.com #MountTBR

The Art of Happiness - 20th Anniversary Edition | Howard C. Cutler, The Dalai Lama
post image
Pickpick

This book is artfully put together. The setting took place for one week where His Holiness The Dalai Lama was speaking in Tucson, Arizona. The book opens with Howard Cutler, M.D. describing his observations of The Dalai Lama taking the stage to share his wisdom on happiness with the audience. The book is structured like an interview between the two. To continue reading my review, please visit my book blog https://abookandadog.com #MountTBR

Pema offers much wisdom and practical guidance with this book. There are several lessons that resonated with me. Pema initially talked about how to awaken compassion with openness and freshness. To continue reading my review, please visit my book blog https://abookandadog.com #MountTBR

marleed I read a Fortnight in September last September and loved it so much that I bought copies for books. I actually think it adds to the reading experience if you read about when/how the book was written and edited beforehand. 4w

Are you a Seasonal Reader?

I am, but Sep is always a bit of a conundrum. Usually have several Summer Reads I'm trying to finish over LDWknd.

Technically today is the start of #meteorologicalautumn the Autumnal Equinox isn't until Sep 22nd. Still feels like Summer here in Oklahoma.

Do I continue w/ Summer Reading or swap to Spooky Stories?

#MountTBR says I should continue w/ Summer Reading & wait for Oct to start fall reads 🍂🍁🎃🧛‍♀️👻

Ruthiella I don‘t think I am a seasonal reader at all. I do occasionally aim at least to read spooky books in October, but I usually fail even at that! 😂 4w

It‘s been a short story kind of week, so I threw four from #MountTBR in a random picker, and this popped out. It will be my better-late-than-never center square in #BookspinBingo!

Also love the colors of this wheel! I may save it to use again. 💜💙
