I‘m not really sure how I feel about this book, the characters or the series to be honest.
It may not be for everyone but it is a complex, intricate and intelligent story.

Hobb‘s Realm of the Elderlings series is my favourite series of all time. While I don‘t feel the same way so far about this series and these characters, I still couldn‘t put this book down.
The characters are amazing, as is Hobb‘s style. Nevare did at times make me feel some complicated feelings towards him! I‘m not sure what the next book will bring, but I‘m sure that Nevare‘s character will continue to develop, and I‘m definitely down for that.
Finished the trilogy.
While not much happening, and the main character dragging his feet the whole time, it was still very engaging I could not put the book down even if I wasn‘t always liking the direction it was going. I don‘t think I would recommend this series to people unless you are big fans of Robin Hobbs writing style.
First Robin Hobb book. I enjoyed it there were some weird sections but overall super interesting and I am excited to see where it goes. If any one has a Robin Hobb book to recommend please let me know.
Definitely not my favorite Hobb series butt I am glad I finished it, as I found this last book the best of the series. I'd give this one 3.5/5.
EDIT:
As for the quote, I should've verified but apparently it was not Hemingway. I can't seem to find a specific origin for the quote, although it does seem to be a summary of a Leonard Cohen song lyric.
Sorry for any confusion my being hasty may have caused.
⭐⭐⭐
Continuing the series as I still want to know what happens but struggling through it a bit. Not sure how I feel about the story premise at this point but the execution remains just ok.
Buster just wonders when it's time to go out. It's currently 11° here so I'm not anxious to leave my electric throw as yet.
