Sorry, @Linsy I just couldn‘t hold off. The end of this book is just SO good!!! 💙🤍💙 My little Ravenclaw heart bursts with pride at the end of this book.
I adore this book. As well done as the movies are, their are just so many little, beautiful details that didn‘t make it into the movies. Well worth a read and the reread (and a few more rereads).

Linsy So true! Too many amazing details for the movies to be able to handle them all. That illustration in your enhanced edition is amazing!! I've been enjoying see the different interpretations in yours. I must admit though, I always feel a little bad for Slytherin here! 4y

I love how very mischievous Dumbledore is. I think he‘s secretly (maybe not so secretly) much more like James Potter or even the Weasley Twins (maybe that‘s why they‘ve never been expelled lol) than people would like to admit.

I couldn‘t remember how he got his cloak back. He doesn‘t lose it the movie, and I was kind of thinking maybe part of its magic was kind of like Percy Jackson‘s sword. lol

I think Dumbledore is being more encouraging of Harry‘s propensity for adventure and getting into trouble than he‘d ever admit out loud. McGonagall would be furious with him.

Linsy Me too! I honestly completely forgot this part. It reminds me of what we were talking about when Dumbledore said Hagrid could use magic to get Harry his letter. Gives me a new perspective on Dumbledore not just turning a blind eye, but actively encouraging this kind of stuff. 4y

GingerAntics @Nikki_E At first I struggled with this idea, but thinking of her in the Deathly Hallows during the Battle of Hogwarts, I think you‘re right. Where Dumbledore would have a twinkle in his eye, she‘d look very cross, but inside she‘d be thinking “good job, Potter!” lol 4y

Linsy The ideas put into the slaying of a unicorn add so much depth. They didn't just kill a creature, they killed a pure and defenseless one. It makes a difference. And it draws a stark parallel between what Voldemort was trying to do that night when he tried to kill Harry. And just as in that case, there were consequences. (edited) 4y

GingerAntics @Linsy oh, I hadn‘t drawn those parallels. Harry was a pure, defenceless infant (6 month old?) and Tom tried to kill him. He basically destroyed his body. Same with the unicorn. Very philosophical. Very nice. I love that. 4y

Such a well told and quickly invented lie. I think we can all imagine what Dumbledore REALLY sees, especially knowing the things we find out about him in Book 7. Still, part of me thinks that whatever he sees, a pair of woollen socks is, in fact, involved. Perhaps all those things he desired in his youth, he‘s managed to dismiss so thoroughly that he really does see woollen socks. lol
