Maggie Hope is imprisoned on a remote Scottish island with other specially trained British agents who know too much. Then people start dying. Sounds fascinating and the setting is indeed fabulous, but this book was a dud for me. MacNeal basically announces at the start that she‘s going to rip off Ten Little Indians then proceeds to do so, with an uninspired ending. This is my 2nd try with this author and she‘s not for me.

I never really clicked with the main character in this. Won't be continuing the series. So not really series love, alas.

Omg what a great volume and a very Anya-centric one as the opening story started with her getting her puppy as a reward from the last volume.
And what a puppy. He's larger than her, fluffy, and a protective cinnamon roll and I love him.
This good boy protected Anya throughout the entire volume, risking himself from all the dangers that kept coming and without spoiling too much got into himself adopted by the Forgers 🥰

4 Stars • Former CIA operative Maggie Bird seeks refuge in the seaside village of Purity, Maine, hoping to leave her tumultuous past behind after a mission went tragically wrong. She now lives quietly on her chicken farm, wary of any repercussions from her former enemies. When a body turns up in Maggie‘s driveway, she realizes it‘s time to turn to her local circle of old friends, all retirees from the CIA and part of the “Martini Club”, for help.

Expand Your Horizons 2024 task, a book with a one word title.

Spy thrillers aren't my go-to genre but it reads more like the National Treasure movie franchise with more dismembered body parts but predictable in... of-course-someone-will-double-cross-another.

tpixie The movie was a corny, tongue in cheek caper. Very different from the book! 2w

Bk2 of April is done! I absolutely loved this. From the author of Rizzoli & Isles series, it‘s the 1st in a new series called The Martini Club. A group of retired CIA agents living in a small seaside town in Maine are dragged back into action after a dead body is left in Maggie Birds driveway. Loved it, it‘s a more serious version of Killers Of A Certain Age or the movie RED. Highly recommended.🔫 #SeriesLove2024 #BookspinBingo #FourFoursIn24👇

Haha omg Twilight is a fantastic and shameless liar and I love him.

This volume started with dinner with Yuri, Yor's brother who is not who he says he is but then again is anyone in this story who they say they are 😂
The tension between Yor and Twilight, the action, the espionage, and the dodgeball scene had me laughing along with each new mission.
