This is the type of fantasy that is my absolute favorite; the kind that takes hold of you, sucks you in, and makes you begrudge any other tasks or responsibilities. It had me right there with the MC, with every step of his arduous, often heartbreaking journey. The MC is a royal bastard in a world that treats them like garbage, but the King (his grandfather) decides to forge him into a weapon. And a weapon he becomes, but others full of hate and ⬇️

Here‘s my progress on #realmofelderlings. I started the tagged book this month. I‘ve only read the prologue but it was good. Will I make more progress? Eventually.

These books are never what I expect, but it always blows my mind.
A very satisfying end to a very heart-rending journey.

Hob weaves true magic with her writing. Her poetic, imaginative prose takes you places you've never dreamt of; contiplating situation you'll never face, but truly do though her stories

Enchanted_Bibliophile Going into a darker, more introspective character study with this book makes it much slower than the previous two (which were already slow) so perseverance is the name of the game. Don't try to rush, stick with it I promise you'll be glad you did. Even if it test your tolerance for grimness beyond what you think you can handle. 3w
Enchanted_Bibliophile The complexity of the character bonds is what really pulled it off for me. Nighteyes, Fool I'm looking at you.
The prolonged revenge quest got a bit much for me, but the character development I got out of it was so worth it. Understanding where Fitz came from - his physical and psychological suffering - made me understand his need for revenge.
3w
Enchanted_Bibliophile How he revenged himself in the end, O Man!
It shows just how much he's learnt and grown and it was just spectacular.

I'm gonna miss these characters, they've become a part of my heart.

repost for @PuddleJumper:

It is the last book of the Farseer Trilogy! How is everyone doing?

We‘re reading this book through June and then starting the LiveShip Trader trilogy in July #RealmofElderlings

I'm very behind. I'll jump in with the LiveShip Trader books but I've not been feeling Fitz recently

PuddleJumper Artwork is from the illustrated edition of the book and is by Magali Villeneuve 1mo
Ruthiella I‘m going to jump in at the Dragonwilds quartet, but I agree, you need energy to face Fitz and his struggles and drama! The Live Ship Trader trilogy has a different feel about them. Maybe because they are from multiple perspectives. 1mo
Laughterhp Oops. Still haven‘t finished the 2nd one yet. 1mo
kelli7990 I finished Assassin‘s Apprentice this month. I will be starting Royal Assassin next month. 1mo
PuddleJumper @Ruthiella I don't remember that series very well, I'm sure I've read at least two books so I'm excited to try them again. I do think 1st POV can be difficult and Fitz's books sometimes verge on trauma porn, like nothing nice ever happens! 🤣 1mo
PuddleJumper @Laughterhp It's very chonky 1mo
PuddleJumper @kelli7990 Yay! That's great progress 1mo
Enchanted_Bibliophile Me and Fitz were also on a little break, but last night I picked up the book again... So I might not finish this month, but definitely early next month. 1mo
Luke-XVX Probably best if I bow out. Haven‘t thought about picking up/starting the second book in weeks 1mo
PuddleJumper @Luke-XVX Me either 😅 Jump back in whenever, you don't need to have read the Farseer Trilogy before reading Liveship Traders 1mo
PuddleJumper @Enchanted_Bibliophile Excellent! Go at your own pace, they are heavy books 1mo
