I just started this book. I like it. It‘s really good. It‘s my first time reading anything by this author. I‘ve only heard good things about her books. I want to see what the hype is about. This book isn‘t on my #bookspinbingo list but I can add it to a Free Space spot on my bingo board.

I was just talking about overconsumption of books and I just saw this on my phone. Do I need to buy more books? No but I can earn more points if I buy books. Every time my mom is channel surfing and we land on the shopping channel, I tell her in a joking way,”You need to buy something new.” And she says,”No, I don‘t. I‘m going to be good.” My mom likes to buy kitchen stuff or vacuum cleaners but we have enough of that stuff. We don‘t need more.

I was scrolling through TikTok last night and I saw someone I follow talking about overconsumption of books which inspired me to look up this article about overconsumption. It‘s making me think. Do I have a problem with overconsumption? I probably do but I‘m trying to stop. I probably have more stuff than I need. I like buying stuff and books but am I using what I‘m buying?

I just saw this reel on Instagram. It has made me think and it resonated with me.

Here‘s my progress on this book. I still don‘t like it. I think it‘s the writing style that I don‘t like and I don‘t understand why Christian stuff was added to the story in the beginning. I‘m a Christian and I don‘t have a problem reading Christian fiction but I don‘t think Christian stuff really fits into this story because this isn‘t a story that focuses on God that much. God is just a background character in this book.

I have another story to share this week. I‘m glad we got this problem resolved. I was starting to think we wouldn‘t ever get our WiFi connection back and that I would have to continue using my cellular data. Cellular data does fine if you want to access the internet and don‘t have WiFi but it‘s not very fast.

2. Tagged! The female main character in this book participates in Horse Racing. I enjoyed all 3 books in the Kentucky series. This series is in Kentucky set in the world of Horse Racing. Fern Michaels also has 2 other series set in the world of Horse Racing as well. One is in Texas and the other one is in Las Vegas. I want to read the other 2 series as well. I haven‘t read them yet.

I just started this book. This one is on my #bookspinbingo list. I don‘t like it yet. It‘s starting off slow and I‘m not feeling invested in the story right now but I‘m hoping that it gets better. If not then I‘ll probably DNF it.

Here‘s my review for a book I just finished reading. I‘m counting this book for #bookspinbingo. I‘m glad I can finally cross this one off of my list.

Here‘s my progress on this book. I‘ve been highlighting a lot of passages in this Kindle book and I‘m almost done. I might as well work on finishing this book since I started it in June and I don‘t want to read anything else right now. I‘m ready to get finished with it so I can read something else. The stories and quotes are nice and the passages have made me think but I‘ve only resonated with 1 story.

For the #whimsicalreadsbookclub, I found our book club read for August on Spotify Premium. It‘s also on Audible. The wait list for the book at my library is 20-24 weeks and that‘s too long. It won‘t be available to me by the time August gets here. This sounds like a fun read. It sounds like it has a similar story to the Disney movie Mulan and I liked that movie so I‘m looking forward to reading this book next month.

I just finished listening to this week‘s short story “The Adventure Of The Reigate Puzzle” for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. I‘m looking forward to participating in the discussion this week after not being able to participate last week because I was hit by Hurricane Beryl over here in SE TX.

For #weeklyfavorites, I‘m sharing the tagged book that I just finished reading. I liked it. It‘s a cozy, witchy book with the found family trope. I‘ve been in a funk since Hurricane Beryl hit me over here in SE TX last week. I‘m lucky I survived the hurricane because 11 people have died from it here. Maybe it‘s because God isn‘t finished with me yet but either way, I‘m grateful to be alive. I‘ve been thinking about that a lot.

Here‘s my progress on this book I started last week when I lost power during Hurricane Beryl. It‘s taken me all week just to get this far in the book. 3 people are waiting to read this book at my library but I‘m almost finished. I just feel bad that I‘m keeping other people waiting. After Hurricane Beryl happened last week, I‘ve been in a funk and my reading has slowed down but I‘m hoping that I won‘t be in a funk next month.

1. A guy friend of mine in WI sent me flowers for my birthday last week and we talked on the phone for a little bit. We‘ve been friends for 20 years.
2. I bought some coloring supplies recently from Barnes & Noble.
3. After I lost power during Hurricane Beryl last week, I taught myself how to play free cell with regular cards using instructions I found online.
4. I colored this flower recently.
5. I was accepted for another ARC.

Here‘s my progress on my #bookspinbingo list. The highlighted items are books I‘ve read. The rest of the Sherlock Holmes stories will be read. I‘m currently reading a book featuring the found family trope. I have 2 hrs left in the audiobook but I‘ve been reading it very slowly. I probably won‘t read any of my Kindle books. Since Hurricane Beryl hit us here in SE TX last week, my reading has slowed down and I‘ve been in a funk since it happened.

I was pre approved for 2025 ARCs from St. Martin‘s Press. I‘m going to be so overwhelmed next year. This is a big commitment but I like being an early reader. I like hyping up new releases, supporting new authors and reading the books before anyone else.

Yay! I‘m currently an SMP Early Reader so I get to stay one through 2025 since they automatically enrolled me and all of the other Early Readers into the new program. I don‘t have a problem with reapplying every year. It gives other people a chance to be a part of the program so it‘s only fair. If I reapply next time and don‘t get accepted then it‘s not a big deal because I still have so many unread books.

Here‘s my listening stats from Audible. It doesn‘t surprise me that I‘ve spent so much time listening to Sherlock Holmes because I‘m reading the short stories for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong.

I almost forgot to post this. I started this book last week when I didn‘t have power. I tried to get on the internet last week but it was spotty so whenever I was able to get online, I downloaded this book on Libby. It works really well for a reading challenge that I‘m participating in. I like it. I hope to finish it soon. It feels like a very cozy book and I feel like cozy books are what I need right now.

I just finished reading last week‘s short story “The Adventure Of The Musgrave Ritual” for the #noplacelikeholmes readalong. It makes me sad that I couldn‘t participate in the discussion last week because Hurricane Beryl hit us here in Southeast TX. It knocked out my power and my internet. My power is back on but I still don‘t have internet. I‘ve been feeling sad since it happened.

1. Have the ending of the book spoiled.
2. Meet my favorite character
3. Be trapped inside a mystery novel. I like reading romance but I don‘t want to have a romantic relationship in real life.
4. Be transported to the setting of a historical fiction book
5. Skip the last book in a series if the series is unfinished. I can‘t stand cliffhangers. I like to binge read a series and then have an ending so I can move on.

I got this email last week when the power was out after Hurricane Beryl hit us here in southeast TX last week. My power is back on but I still don‘t have internet so I‘m using my cellular data to access the internet. I‘m happy that I was accepted for another ARC because I had a terrible week last week. The worst part is that the hurricane hit us the day before my birthday and it‘s also the middle of the summer here so it‘s very hot.

For #weeklyfavorites, I‘m choosing this book from the #whimsicalreadsbookclub that we‘re discussing at the end of the month. Hurricane Beryl hit us here in Southeast TX last week and we‘re still trying to recover. It‘s complete chaos over here. I wasn‘t sure what to think about this book at first but I liked it. It kept me company last week when I didn‘t have power and I didn‘t have any other books downloaded from the Libby app.

1. Yeah. My mom and I both do. Right now on our to-do list is trying to get our internet with AT&T up and running again since Hurricane Beryl knocked out our power and our internet last week. Our power is back on but we still don‘t have internet so I‘m using my cellular data to access the internet. I hope they fix it sooner rather than later. 😒

2. I really enjoyed the tagged book that‘s about a wedding planner.

For my #weeklyfavorites, I‘m sharing the tagged book. This book was compared to the book The Secret Garden and I agree with that because The Secret Garden has a garden and this book has a dangerous garden. I thought that was interesting. This was the first book I‘ve read by V.E. Schwab and I enjoyed it. I think it‘s a good book to start with if you haven‘t read anything by her because it‘s a standalone book and it‘s short.

I‘m listening to this book. It‘s interesting so far. I‘m here in Southeast TX waiting on Hurricane Beryl to get here. This is the only book I‘ll be reading. It started out as a hurricane then it was downgraded to a tropical storm and now, it‘s a hurricane again. I charged up my portable handheld fan and my iPad is charged now. All of my flashlights are already charged up and ready to use if the power goes out.

I just read this in the tagged book on my Kindle and I liked it so I decided to highlight it. It resonated with me.

Tonight, I was #audiocoloring this picture while listening to the tagged book for the #whimsicalreadsbookclub. I just started coloring this picture. I‘ve been liking this digital coloring. It‘s going to take me awhile to get finished but I‘m happy with how it looks so far. I think this bird is a goose but it‘s not a normal one because it has a lot of details.

I‘m enjoying the stories in this book but I‘m kinda ready to be finished with this book. I‘m trying to take my time with this book because the book says in the beginning to take your time to read it because if you rush through it, you‘ll miss what the stories are trying to say. Well, I‘ve been taking my time and I don‘t understand what the stories are trying to say. I didn‘t know this book was going to be so deep.

1. I tried out a new walking path in my neighborhood with my dog Toppy on Monday. We walked all the way around this path. It was a long walk. This path is the size of a football field but I wanted to challenge myself.

I just finished reading Gallant and I just started this book for the #whimsicalreadsbookclub. I‘ve only listened to the first chapter and it‘s interesting. I don‘t know if I‘m going to like it or not but I want to give it a chance to see what I think. I‘m borrowing it on Libby because my hold already came in and I noticed that 8 people are waiting to read this book. I guess I‘m not the only person who wants to read this book.

I just made this tracker to help me track my progress reading these short stories in this book. The dots all represent the number of short stories in each section. I still have a long way to go because I‘m taking my time to read this book but I‘ve read 8 stories from the first section of the book so I shaded in 8 of the dots. The good thing is that the stories don‘t take very long to read.

I‘m so glad the numbers were drawn for #readyourkindle because I needed something to take my mind off of worrying about a hurricane hitting me here in TX. I woke up with my heart beating really fast. Anyway, #4 is a Christian book. #9 is a romance between a CEO and an employee. #16 is a dark romance. #18 is an erotic story with a professor in it. I don‘t know if it has romance in it or not. I don‘t know if I‘ll read these this month.
