emz711 Oh no! Do I click? 1y
Karisa @emz711 I know right?! But… It feels like early Christmas clicking on the covers! 🤣 1y
Suet624 I need reviewers to,stop reviewing for a month or two so I can catch my breath and stop feeling like I‘m missing out on some spectacular reads. 🤣 1y
TheKidUpstairs @Suet624 I've been feeling the same way! 1y
Suet624 @TheKidUpstairs haha. There is such abundance! Leave it to me to complain about it. 1y

NPR released their list of books they love for 2021. There were a bunch that looked great that were new to me.

https://apps.npr.org/best-books/#view=covers&year=2021

keithmalek Thank you so much for posting this! My TBR pile has gotten out of control, so I've recently downloaded the Goodreads app solely for the purpose of listing TBRs. The books that I REALLY want to read I have listed on Litsy, and the books that I only kind of want to read (and probably never will) will be on Goodreads (I'm still not done yet). Anyway, from your post, I added 6 to Litsy and 4 to Goodreads. 2y

1) Today I'd have to say: King, Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson.
2) Morag Gunn from The Diviners, Veruca Salt, Uriah Heep (Dickens had the best character names), Ignatius Reilly, Macon Dead AKA Milkman (so many great names in Song of Solomon)
3) Loads were added this morning upon finding out that the annual Book Concierge has been released:

NPR book guide! Picks by staffers. 😃 This is the first I‘ve heard of it.

https://apps.npr.org/best-books/#view=covers&year=2021

MicheleinPhilly This is always my favorite year end list. So many hidden gems! 2y
JamieArc I think this is what they used to call the Book Concierge, and I loved it because you could filter through so many different ways to get just the book you were looking for. My TBR is going to explode! 2y

vivastory @JamieArc I've been checking periodically to see if it had been released. I love Book Concierge! (I wish they had kept the name lol) 2y
JamieArc @vivastory I wish they had kept the name as well! 2y
BarbaraBB I must check this! Especially since @vivastory and @MicheleinPhilly recommend it too! 2y
vivastory @BarbaraBB I think you'll find some titles for your TBR I added about 15 to mine 2y
BarbaraBB @vivastory 15?! 😂, I‘ll have a look now immediately! (edited) 2y

Book Concierge is one of my favorite annual lists! Yes, I have heard the criticism that the list is bloated & not selective enough. However, I applaud NPR for selecting books for every type of reader. Without fail I am introduced to books I hadn't heard of & their list greatly appeals to my own eclectic taste. Such a nice change of pace from the incredibly uninspired NY Times list.

Leftcoastzen Sisters is on my library hold list 3y
Hooked_on_books Anything that elevates books that may not otherwise be noticed is a good in my opinion. Thanks for posting—I‘m already adding to my TBR! 😆 3y
LeahBergen I‘ll check it out. I see Dirt on there by Bill Buford which is my current IRL book club read. 👍🏻 3y

LauraBeth This is always my favorite end-of-year book list 3y
saresmoore I love it, too. The cross-referencing with category tags is so helpful. I‘ve discovered some great books! 3y
stretchkev This has been my go to list, so much is on it and it's searchable! It's a really cool tool. 3y

I‘ve only read 2 of these, tagged and the My Papi Has a Motorcycle (super cute), and a few others are on my TBR.

Thoughts?

I love the end of year book recs. NPR does a great job with their Book Concierge. Plus, past year picks, if, like me, you don't tend to get to the latest books in a timely fashion. 😁

Aimeesue The direct link won't work from Litsy (🤷🏻‍♀️) but you can c&p or go through the news link. 4y
ljuliel Thanks ! Great list to look through. 4y
Amiable I like how they sort the genres so you don't have to wade through stuff you don't want to read to find the stuff you do. 4y

Leftcoastzen That‘s me , seldom get to the newest books in a timely fashion! 4y
LeahBergen I tend to get to the latest books about 50 or 60 years after publication. 😂 4y
Aimeesue @LeahBergen It's a good strategy. By then all the really good stuff has sifted down! 😂 4y
Aimeesue @Leftcoastzen Me either. I hardly ever buy new. Given my volunteer gig at the Book Sorting, I tend to come across a lot of them 6 months to 50 years after release. 😂😂😂 4y
Aimeesue @Amiable Isn't t it great? Nice to have things sorted! 4y
Aimeesue @ljuliel Just in time to add books to my Christmas list! 😁 4y
