A Pocketful of Crows | Joanne M Harris

Pickpick

Yesterday I read the last book in my #yearendclearout library stack!! Book 4/4! Crows is a delightfully subversive fairy tale filled w/wildness, animals, love, betrayals, vengeance, spells, & lyrical language. I read it in 1 day.

Looking forward to 2019 now! I have made a few goals for myself & will be participating in a couple of challenges. I'll share all of that next week. Until then I'll be picking books from my own shelves. #readwhatyouown

Apparently the PNW is about to get hit by an "atmospheric river". In other words... We're about to get hit by a ton of rain. So I'm snuggling down with this book which is a perfect wintery read. It's also giving me some serious BEAR AND THE NIGHTINGALE vibes. ??❄️

#yearendclearout book 3/4

BookInMyHands Loved this book! I‘m also getting storm ready- finding the flashlights the kids have absconded with over the past 6 months. We often loose power in storms, which the kids love. 6y
BethFishReads OMG loved this !!!! 6y

RadicalReader @valeriegeary love the sensational socks and your wonderful bio 6y
valeriegeary @BookInMyHands we rarely loose power which is probably a good thing, but I gave to agree with your kids that it can sometimes be fun! Reading by candle light! 🤗 6y
valeriegeary @BethFishReads I'm really loving it. All three female characters are complete bad asses. I love how each is finding her power in different ways. 💪 6y

I chanced upon this book at the library and was so taken with the cover I had to bring it home. Set in the imaginary sea town of Neverness peopled with some very strange folk. Not a novel, rather a collection of stories with recurring characters and themes. Dark, tangled, filled with wistfulness, heartbreak, longing, and magic. Fairy tales for a new generation. Should be finishing this one up today.

I've got a stack of 4 library books I'm trying to finish before the end of the year. This one's up first because it's due tomorrow!! I can't renew it so guess it's time for a mini readathon! I'm finding it really interesting... An insider's look at the racist culture permeating the USofA's police force.

#yearendclearout Book 1/4

LauraBeth I‘m in the same boat as you - can‘t renew them anymore and have to finish them before Dec 24th. We can do it! 💪 (this is my version of the Olympics). 6y
valeriegeary Yes! We've been training all year for this moment! 🥇👏🎉 6y

Goal: finish reading these library books by the end of the year!

laurieluna I loved both folk and a pocketful of crows. Very similar in feel and theme. 6y
saresmoore Good goal! 6y
valeriegeary @miralunasbooknook I'm looking forward to both of them! Wonder if they are good to read back to back? Or should I break them up? 🤔 6y
