Definitely worth a zillion rereads! I love the Walter Moers Zamonia books, they are so full of fantasy and crestive ideas. The City of Dreaming Books is a novel for us booklovers for sure. 😍😍😍

Soubhiville I love the cover designs. 6d
MariaW @Soubhiville They are all drawn by the author, he is an illustrator as well. Walter Moers is so talented. I went over to always buying his books as a hardcover because they are definitely worth it. 😊 (edited) 4d

Schreib niemals einen Roman aus der Perspektive eines Türknaufs!

julesG Well, there is a spicy book written (partly) from the POV of a door 1w
julesG I guess the author didn't get the memo 1w
willaful Still not as weird as the woman having sex with Sexy Covid. 🤢 1w

This is a rather large book, that on top of a very busy several weeks, is why it took me a while to finish. But Walter Moers did not disappoint, just like with Captain Bluebear, I was transfixed by this adventure. Rumo is a different character entirely, unlike Captain Bluebear who finds himself in crazy predicaments seemingly by accident, Rumo runs toward them headlong with the intent to either prove himself, to survive, or protect his friends. ⬇️

jen_the_scribe Every setting in Zamonia unfolds new landscapes, new magic, unfathomable creatures, and crazy situations. Rumo endured fearsome monsters, seemingly hopeless battles, and he gained loyal friends along the way. There were plenty of silly moments as well, some made me literally laugh out loud. And there were heartbreaking scenes too. Who knew a large, dog-like creature with horns could muster such a roller coaster of emotions from me? 1mo

As much as I loved the last book I read, there were a lot of sad moments. I‘m in need of a palate cleanser and since “The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear” did that for me, I‘m finally going to read book 2 in the Zamonia series. I read that you don‘t have to read these books in order, but it‘s ideal because there are surprises that are more enjoyable when you‘ve read the previous books 😁

A very short letter-like telling of how Christm… ehm Hamoulimepp is celebrated in the Lindwurmfeste (no idea how to translate that 🤯). This is a fine criticism of our overboarding Christmas celebrations and shopping-mania thrown in together with some leftover ideas about Zamonia. I liked it!!! 🚪🐲🏰

This (his)story of the Zamonian Christmas comes along with taxonomy plates of the some described things or animals. Like most of the Walter Moers books, they are beautifully illustrated. 🎨🎨🎨

jen_the_scribe Aww I wish this one had an English translation… I would love to read about a Zamonian Christmas right about now! I only discovered Walter Moers and Zamonia earlier this year, but I‘m a big fan now. Happy reading to you! 8mo
MariaW @jen_the_scribe I am pretty sure it will be translated soon because Moers becomes more more known outside of the German reading world. 💪 8mo
