Leaving Time | Jodi Picoult

God dammit, Jodi Picoult. This one was FANTASTIC but woof, another earth shaking plot twist. Passed this one along to my new neurology NP who did my first round of Botox for migraines today. 🤗

“There is no history in a place until we make it, until you live a life worth remembering. We have made a history here-some of it was more folklore than truth, more fear than anything else. But some of it was good. Some of it lives inside each of us, the history of this wild, wild land.”

So so so good. Perfect boom for a lazy day with a bowl of Dot‘s Pretzels.

No One Is Talking about This | Patricia Lockwood

This was hard to get into if I‘m being honest. Two parts: First part, difficult format to read at first, eventually made me cringe, laugh, and roll my eyes. Seemed weird, but all came together in the second part through a realization of what‘s important. Topics: Internet addiction, politics, complicated pregnancy trauma/lack of abortion access, infant death. All said and done, absolutely incredible.

WOOF. This one is wrecking me. “Busy is just a euphemism for being so focused on what you don't have that you never notice what you do.
It's a defense mechanism. Because if you stop hustling-if you pause-you start wondering why you ever thought you wanted all those things.”

Literally couldn‘t put it down. Went to bed late and woke up early just to finish it before work.

All of the good things I could say about this book wouldn‘t do it justice. I sat and read it in about two and a half hours without even stopping to pee and I fully intend to read it again soon. There‘s not a single person who wouldn‘t somehow benefit from reading this.

A must-read for work, but definitely not mad about it. Incredibly helpful insight given in the form of a story.

tokorowilliamwallace I read this as a college textbook, wow, like 15 years ago---one of the better leadership guides we were assigned. Now if only those who purport to appreciate the methodology actually practiced it; why is business and work culture still so terrible, indignifying, uninspiring, cold, and such? 2y

Don‘t start this book if you can‘t commit to sitting down and finishing it. Honestly I had to force myself to get up and make dinner, then I had to force myself again to go to sleep. The ending made me gasp and left my mouth hanging wide open with a chill down my spine. #signedfirstedition

Number two for the year. Kept me engaged from the beginning and I definitely found myself thinking about the characters while I was cooking dinners and doing laundry. As endearing as it is enthralling. #signedfirsteditions
