The Reincarnationist Papers | D. Eric Maikranz
Mehso-so

Probably a 3.5 star book for me. Evan Michaels is different but doesn't know how or why. All he knows is he remembers other lives. That is, until an unfortunate incident leads him to meet a woman by the name of Poppy, who eventually introduces him to the peoe and world of the Cognomina. From here he he relives past lives of his own and other members od this illustrious society. From here he will go on to find out who he was and who he will become

Another good story in the series. Love the way it's progressing. A lot more police procedural again than previous novels.

Wow! What a big, fat book of nothing! Does not want to make me continue this series.

pilardib I watched the movie and hated it. Such a shame that the book is probably as bad. 5y
BreakingRad1977 @pilardib I wanted to see the movie. But after reading the book, I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it. 5y
night_shift Yeah, I couldn't really get into this one. The movie, as far as I can tell, is all 3 books mashed together but idk. Vandermeer wrote another one called Borne that I really loved but I had a hard time getting into the sequel (Dead Astronauts) and have set it aside. Maybe I'll pick it up again? 5y

Took me a while to really get into it. Seemed quite repetitive for the most part, got quite exciting towards the final quarter. Will consider my options at the time to continue with the Trilogy.

Good. That about sums it up. Neither here nor there for me. Not sure if I'll read the 2nd book. This book may have ended any chance of that happening. Just hasn't done enough to want me coming back for more.

Good. Typical Robots vs. Humans Sci-Fi. Some interesting concepts I haven't read in other sci fi novels. Probably could have worked as a short story just as well.

Very good. The ending surprised me. I did not see that coming. Promising start to the series.

His childhood seemed more amusing than adulthood via his memoir. But this is probably the case with anybody going into adulthood. Best if you know the Author so you can hear his voice as you read it.

Well written. Making the serious funny. More than just an autobiography. Really changed my perception of Robert Webb and men in general. He makes you think.

Very well written. Kept me intrigued throughout the entire novel. No slow, boring parts. I like how I learnt more about the killer as the Detective did. The many twists and turns throughout kept me guessing especially towards the end. Looking forward to The 5th To Die!

11.22.63 | Stephen King
Pickpick

Very different from the usual Stephen King novel. No horror, some romance, but as always plenty of suspense. I enjoyed how the story slowly built up to assassination day, but as it edged closer the story seemed to up tempo at just the right moments. It made you (the reader) feel as though the pressure was building on you personally. Would recommend to Stephen King fans and anyone who's not. Persevere and you will be rewarded.

1Q84 (1Q84, #1-3) | Haruki Murakami
Mehso-so

1st part was amazing and intriguing. Definitely gets you in and wanting more. 2nd part dragged and was quite repetitive. 3rd and final part kept you hanging on enough to eventually conclude, what at the end of the day is a bit of an anticlimax. If you are a big fan, you will enjoy. If you are new to Murakami you might find it a little demanding. All in all, a good read, but I've read better.

Dark Matter | Blake Crouch
Pickpick

Interesting concept. Makes you think of What ifs and maybes. But also makes you realize what you have is from your own choices and if you are unhappy there is only one person that can change that. Thoroughly enjoyable, fast paced, believable. I have been meaning to read his Wayward Pines series as I enjoyed the TV series.

American Gods | Neil Gaiman
Pickpick

Fantastically written. Brilliant characters with an interesting view on hypothetical modern Gods. The only issue I had really was that I felt the “War“ between the Gods was a bit of an anti climax after the build up. But overall, I loved it! If the TV series is half as good as the novel, I can't wait.

Ubik | Philip K. Dick

I read that Ubik was a good place to start for reading anything by PKD. It took a little while for me to get into it, as it was quite strange. But once I did, it seemed to flow quite smoothly and I was able to keep up with the story. Looking forward to reading many more of his titles, I've heard it only gets stranger in the world of PKD.

Mistermandolin Yep; it gets weirder. He gets better as a writer too but UBIK is a great place to start. Excellent pick! 4y

4.5 Stars. Excellent conclusion to an epic story. Great to see and hear more of the other characters instead of all the focus being on Darrow. Loved all the twists and turns towards the end. Really kept you on your toes. Can't wait to read the second trilogy!

4.5 Stars. Very enjoyable. I thought the politics in the story were going to bore me, but it rolled on through the story with (almost) perfection. The Evolution of the characters is extremely well done. You feel as though you are a part of the whole team. Looking forward to finishing the final installment of the first trilogy.
