⭐️⭐️⭐️|| Really interesting premise about a relatively undocumented event during WWII - I loved feeling compelled to learn more about the ill-fated St. Louis - but overall I found this fictionalized account difficult to connect to. My main hangup: the characters felt really removed from the story (especially the present day ones).

5⭐️ || Bar none, one of the best WWII #HistFic books I've ever read. I loved the writing style and honestly couldn't put it down. Huge recommendation to everyone to read this book!

4⭐️ for this adorable middle grade book about Gertie, a girl that is determined to be the best fifth grader in the whole wide world to show her mom she's worth staying for. Heartfelt, funny, cute, and definitely quotable. Pubs Oct 2016 🎃

Beautiful world building, amazing characters, amazing story! The magic was so intricate and interesting, I could have read about it for ages! Didn't really ship the ship, but still a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

intothehallofbooks I NEED to read this one already. 8y

SO GOOD! Loved how interactive the reading was (dossiers, texts, emails, medical documents, etc) and the plot was totally heart-pounding. Also, I SPACESHIP IT SO HARD. ❤️ Very much recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I first read this book as a 13yo, and it absolutely wrecked me. It was the first book I really read that dealt with hard hitting topics - loss and grief in a relatable contemporary setting. Still love the way it was portrayed 15 years later. 5⭐️

LizzyNanney I seriously refer to this book as "the crying book" because I read it when I was 13 and my mom came in to find me sobbing. So good but so sad! 8y
BringMyBooks @LizzyNanney OMG I can totally relate! This is the first book that ever made me ugly sob and I don't even know that I fully understood why at the time. 8y
LizzyNanney Mmmhmm. I didn't cry when the tragic thing (no spoilers for anyone reading this) happens but the emotional aftermath tore me up. Did you read the sequel? I didn't like it as much. 8y

BringMyBooks @LizzyNanney THERE WAS A SEQUEL?!?! (That's basically my answer to that btw) 8y
BringMyBooks @LizzyNanney Also, I totally agree with what you said up there ^. I think the reason it lacked such an emotional punch is how visceral and real it all felt. 8y
LizzyNanney Yeah, the sequel is called The Night I Disappeared and Morgan is in it but she's not the main character. If you read it you should tell me your thoughts! 8y

Perfect conclusion to an absolutely compelling series! The plot, characters, settings - all of them were done incredibly well throughout the entire Lynburn Legacy series & I highly recommend!

Occasionally the 2nd book in a trilogy is too bogged down in wrapping up the 1st & amping up for the 3rd, leaving it without a lot of substance. THIS IS NOT THE CASE HERE. Loved every heart wrenching page of this obnoxiously heartbreaking book! 5⭐️
