I love a heroine that grows and learns and who doesn‘t do stupid shit for the love of some dude she barely knows. Great story, great characters, good world building.
Agnieszka is chosen by the Wizard that rules her valley because she has magic-but a magic the wizard doesn‘t understand. They work together to fight the Wood, and to save their kingdom. Agnieszka learns how and why the Wood came to be.
5/5 stars, read if you want kind of teenage mage
Next book to read. I quite liked Briar Rose. Excited for this read as love my Fairy Tales. How's everyone's weekend going? Happy reading 📚❤️📖 #magic #fairytale #sorcery

I absolutely LOVED this book! ? It's rare for me to find a book that actually lives up to the claim of being a modern fairy tale, but this book certainly did!
Also, @TheAromaofBooks , I completely understand what you meant when said this was a "warm" story! I think I'll wait a bit to read Spinning Silver because right now, I can't imagine loving it as much as I did this ?
That's 4 squares filled for #bookspinbingo so far!
I'm going to be laid up for a few days, and this is my bookish stockpile to see me through. I'm almost 80 pages into Uprooted and enjoying it a lot 📚
I'm very late to the party, but I'm finally reading this one!

Day 208.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.
I do not challenge anyone. You are all welcome to take part.
I loved it! After this and Spinning Silver I‘m really looking forward to reading The Scholomance novels for Author a Month in October! #FairyTaleReadingChallenge @Charityann
Thank you @Bookgoil for the great package. Love the books you chose. Happy for the bookmarks and chocolate. The coffee mug was perfect was actually looking for on like that.
Happy Valentine‘s Day 💝

Change of pace for me I enjoyed escaping to a magical world of witches, wizards and evil woods.
This was a reread for me and it ended up being my #bookspin book for January! I read this first in 2016 right before I got engrossed in the fantasy genre. I wanted to do a reread to see if I felt differently about it and the quick answer was: Not really!
The first half of the book was amazing! The setting change halfway through the book absolutely killed the momentum and it never recovered for me. Overall, still glad I reread it! @TheAromaofBooks

Wow! I‘m still trying to catch my breath after going on the journey this book took me on! From the intriguing first chapter you are sucked in to a whirlwind of magic, fantasy, and action! I couldn‘t put it down and finished it over two evenings. For those of you who go a bit crazy with sexual tension this book will have you reeling but don‘t worry the big finish is worth it! I really enjoyed it!
Here is my #BookSpinBingo board! My #BookSpin this month is Uprooted by Naomi Novik. I read this a few years ago and wanted to do a reread of it. Excited for a new month, a clean slate 💙 Thank you to @TheAromaofBooks for organizing this for us
I'm kicking myself for having had this in the shelf for so long! How dare I?
I fell in love with the detailing and the dialogue between all the characters. I just can‘t believe that the dragon set himself to be a grumpy princess, what with him hiding in a tower and all, but this goes to show that even dragons need rescuing.
I love the cover and the villain of the woods but that was about it. I think I was disappointed from the start when I learned there wasn't a real dragon. I also didn't understand the romantic relationship, they barely liked each other. The characters were not likeable. I think what bothered me most was the magic system. For a girl who didn't know she was a witch for 17 years she became powerful very suddenly. And it was just so boring.
An enchanting escape awaits readers in this engaging YA-Folklore crossover from Naomi Novik.
I really enjoyed this. This one has (Baba) Jaga mentioned – she‘s not a character, as she is long-dead, but she is mentioned and her effects are felt. Many know that I am not always a fantasy fan (depends on the type of fantasy), but I do like fairy tales. This one had a lot going on – not all at once, but one thing after another. Lots of adventure in this one
I really liked this. A lot. But the stylistic changes did throw me off a little. This felt like three different books. The first part with the MC learning magic and to see past the Dragon's grumpiness (and teach him a few things along the way!) was my favorite. The middle section in the city and the end, with the final "defeat" of the Wood, both felt very different. I liked that they "won" by soothing the Wood rather than destroying it but it ⬇️
I loved this book! An enchanting, dark fairytale that pulls you in and doesn't let you go - just like the menacing Wood. The plot felt perfectly paced and the characters were engaging. I loved seeing the growth of Nieshka's magic and character as she navigated some truly terrifying situations. If the romance aspect had been explored a bit more, this would have been a perfect book. Definitely a book for lovers of fantasy and fairytales!
Another "snowed in" day here in Texas. The power is on for now and I'm listening to this audiobook while melting/boiling snow for water since there's no bottled water to be found anywhere close to us and they say we could be without running water for weeks. I'm thankful to at least have power, so many others still don't.
I enjoyed this, but it was far too long.
It felt like it took me about 2 weeks to read which is unheard of for me!
The start and the end were good but the middle was quite waffley, the romance never really went anywhere either.
I would have enjoyed it more if it was about half the size 😬
This was a quick easy read and very well written. I loved falling in to this world!
Something that started as an engaging and fast-paced magical read, gradually slowed down around halfway mark and dragged and dragged until a tired final chapter. Didn‘t get into romance line either.
First read of the new year. I decided to break out my iPad bc it‘s been a while since I‘ve read from my elibrary, and just bc I haven‘t been reading them absolutely doesn‘t mean that I haven‘t been continuing to buy them.
This was such a good book to start 2021 with. I haven‘t been able to put it down all day.
Agnieszka is an amazing heroine, and Sarkan is incredibly well written. Fantastic story.
Loved it!
Starting to brainstorm my #bestof2020 list. These were new-to-me books, but not all published this year. As much as I love ranking things, this is already hard!! I haven‘t read Addie LaRue YET but I am predicting it will be on here 😬
Q: What has been your favorite read this year, whether newly published or not? I love reading other people‘s lists!!
Oh-my-goodness! I enjoyed this wonderful 435 page tome. It definitely lived up to the hype. It was so worth me staying way past my bedtime to finish it. Sadly I am left wanting more. I want to live in that world and know what happens next Nieshka and Sarkan. 😔
It was so good I now need to go buy my own personal copy for my home library. 😁😅

Oh my goodness with this love thing!!! They need to just get it over with and tell each other how much they care for and need each other, geez-a-lu! 😬😬😬😔
If you can‘t tell, I‘m enjoying this book. Started it last night and I‘m already on page 211 and up way past my bedtime. 😅🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

I didn't quite finish this in time to count it for #Scarathlon2020. It took me a little bit to get into it but still an amazing read. Highly recommend if you haven't already read it and you like fantasy or fairy tale retellings.
My final point count is 1307. I had so much fun last month participating. Thank you @StayCurious and @Clwojick for hosting!
Now on to #NaNoWriMo.

Had not really been reading in a while, animal crossing came into my life and took up all my spare time. Decided to get back into reading starting with this, really enjoyed it 😊
I had this book in my TBR for ages, so I decided to read it before reading newer books by this author. I liked the writing style even if some of the characters are downright unlikable and the plot dragged at times.
I can't believe it's almost October! Here's my #BookSpin list, fresh from the randomizer. Thanks, @TheAromaofBooks!

Oh oh oh I hated this book such... The Woods is an amazing character that's not an actual character but everything else I seriously hated.
The characters are flatter then cardboard.
The romance was abusive and awful the ENTIRE BOOK.
I really just can't with this book, if I had read this physically I would have DNFed it 20% in but some how I managed to finish the audiobook but I want the time of my life back.... can you tell I hated it?
A gorgeously crafted fairy tale, in which the greatest magic, and fiercest monsters, can be traced back to what is real and known in all realms: sorrow, rage, and love.
Started #TheReadingRush with a fantastical one today, and am really enjoying this fresh fairytale — here‘s to an evening of magic and adventure! #thereadingrush2020 #readingrush
