A book is the key to success in life. I'm not telling you which one though so you better get to reading.

Someone Else's Summer | Rachel Bateman

Pickpick

(minor spoilers) I kicked off Summer with this great book! I love a good road trip, and this one didn‘t disappoint. I think it was fun that Anna and Cameron followed Storm‘s list but made all their own memories along the way. The first conflict that happens after their kiss was weird and resolves strangely, but overall I loved the book!
Also random: I read this on a flight to Iowa, and the MC is from Iowa! I didn‘t know this when I packed it lol.

Excited to read this beautiful book! I‘m so happy to see more plus sized characters in YA fiction. I needed these books as a teen 💕

Baseball is my favorite thing in the world. In honor of the last few minor league baseball games, I‘m reading this baseball-centric YA! I‘ve been to 4 Yard Goats games in the last 4 days, and I‘ll be going Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, too. Then seeing them in NH on Labor Day! So yeah - I‘m a fan. Can‘t wait to read this baseball book!

I had some gift cards left from my birthday, so I went and got a bunch of books from my TBR list. Not pictured: Royals, which I already finished. About to start on The Other Side of Lost!

Pickpick

I loved Royals! Daisy is a control-her-own-life girl stuck in a do-things-our-way situation and she doesn‘t handle it well. I loved how much she grew throughout the book, especially in terms of her relationship with her sister. I also really liked that Daisy stays true to herself. She realizes that she needs to do things for her sister, but she never loses herself in the process!

So excited to dive into this one! It also makes me think of James Murray from Impractical Jokers - I was wearing a Royals tiara when I met him at bookcon 😂

One of the coolest things about working in publishing is the ARCs. Diving into the upcoming mystery from Paula Munier! It‘s got dogs and an awesome female lead. What more do you need?

Out in September, so be sure to pick it up!

My friend and I used to talk about hot guy voices when we were in high school. We would call this a “dsv” (deep sex voice) 😂.

Do you ever read a book and feel like it‘s not just speaking to you, but it‘s you speaking? Starry Eyes feels a lot like that to me. I feel Zorie‘s anxieties and angers and fears and attractions. And I‘m only on chapter 2!

So I‘ve been reading Runaways because I fell head over heels for the TV show. I‘ve never read a comic before so this is a new/interesting experience for me. I‘m so in love with the writing & art!

You know that feeling after the last page of a book when you have to sit for a few minutes and adjust to the new person you became because of what you read? Well, that's me after reading this. I feel new, different. Changed. This book was emotional in a deep, different way than Sarah's others. I'm in love.

Missusb I loved it toooo 7y

Idk how I feel about this plot. I've never been into the whole lottery winning thing but between this and Lucky You by Kasie West I figure I'll give it a shot! Plus, Jen's books have never let me down before. I'm sure I'll love this one!
Ps, elephants are lucky and this guy keeps me company while I read. He wanted to be featured for once!

DNF. Linden is one of the most annoying narrators I have ever read. I usually love plots like this but I couldn't get around Linden being ridiculous and the writing being terrible. Sigh.

After a lot of misses in a row, I'm so glad to have finally read a book that left me feeling happy at the last page. Anna and Etienne do a lot of running around each other but their sweet Parisian romance left me completely satisfied!
How are the other 2 books in this pseudo trilogy? Worth reading?

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage Loved Anna and the French Kiss! Definitely the best of the three, but Lola and Isla are great too 😁 7y
Cabookle @BookHoarder32 awesome thanks! I'll be picking up the other two for sure :) 7y

I've honestly avoided this book since its publication because of my fear of the hype - fear of it not living up to its popularity and fear of falling in love with it like everyone else. But I saw it at Barnes and Noble after a rough week and decided it's time. So now I'm sucking it up, cuddling with my dogs on the couch, and finally reading it.

So sad to report that despite uber cute dust jacket, this book was a disappointment. Story was great, but relationship between Rachel and her "BFF" Mo was toxic and painful to witness. I am still waiting for Rachel to tell Mo where she can shove it. I knew when we first learned Mo was basically pretending to be an "editor" to get into a playwriting program w/ Rachel that I'd dislike her, but I thought there would be redemption and there never was.

Guys! It's REAL! Sarah Dessen's new book is out next year and she just got ARC's in the mail. I'm asking every publisher/reviewer/etc contact I know to get me an ARC of this. Willing to donate my first born to the cause.

I'm a big believer of loving my books. If you find a pristine copy of anything on my shelf, it means I haven't read it yet. This is my all time favorite book and it's been everywhere with me. 4 different dorms, 2 colleges, a Florida apartment, a couple cruises, a California trip, and all over my high school. And still going strong.

Finished Tell Me Three Things! I can safely assure you there is no step bro incest in this book (thank goodness!). I wish Jessie's friendships were fully developed, especially with Agnes, but the romance was cute and the father/daughter drama had me crying so hard my dog is worried. Overall, definitely worth a read!

Mehso-so

Shawn Johnson's debut is full of spot-on gymnastics references straight out of Shawn's own experiences training for the Olympics. The characterization could use some work and I found the plot to be a little unbelievable at times but it's still a fun summer read!
