I picked this one up with my Christmas gift certificate. I love buying books I might not otherwise pick up. The author lives in Waterloo and is editor of The New Quarterly, but she's from New Brunswick, and that's where this book is set. A woman, a farm, an absent husband, and a deserting soldier. That's all we know so far.
I usually have a few books on the go, in print, on Kindle, or Libby. This set of three mysteries is on Kindle Unlimited and recommended by my sister
Starting 2019 with this one. So far, I like it. Written like a memoir, but it's fiction. I've seen a lot of critique about it being too much like, but not as good as, Helter Skelter, but I never had the Manson obsession so many of my friends did, so my details are sketchy, which works fine for this read.
