The Gargoyle Hunters | John Freeman Gill

I won't give anything away,I was so excited about this book.I've always loved old buildings, their history.Being at a show & thinking about all the previous performers that stood on that stage always amazes. This story seemed to change course. When I finished I was thinking so-so because it wasn't what I wanted. But the story stayed with me even days later. Not what I expected, but because it got me to think I have come to realize I still enjoyed it.

So many surprise twists, I was never sure where this story was heading! On a side note I love the way she goes into such detail about a subject, even subjects that wouldn't normally interest me and just enough so that it doesn't bore me at all. And then I'm surprised how well those facts tie right into her story.

My first read by this author. I enjoyed the mystery part of course, but I really liked how well she explained the fashion industry. Very detailed and informative but wasn't boring or hard to follow -- the perfect balance for me. I will most likely read another in the series just not sure where to head next! I have to admit that I really didn't like the tough treatment mike seemed to be giving Alex. Hoping that changes or is better explained.

I enjoyed the way the story was written. Each chapter was from a different characters viewpoint which was done very well. In some other books I find this can be annoying or distracting, but it flowed so well in this one. It kept my attention and the story moving very quickly, it was easy to read but very captivating...I read it on two sittings and couldn't wait to get back!

Wow. Very sad story and look at life, yet hopeful too. It's the story of Aaron looking back on his life, alternating with his present day life and struggles. When I was about 75% through the book I found myself needing to go back. I restarted about a quarter into the book and just reading and browsing quickly I picked up so much more that I had somehow overlooked. This made me enjoy the ending even more. What a great story!

I'd heard such great things about this book but at first I just wasn't getting into it. I'm not sure when that changed but at some point I couldn't put it down! What a great story about grief and how we go through it in our own way and even Joe we are all different. Loved it!

monalyisha I felt that way, too! 7y

Wow, I'd heard this was a great book....I never could tell where this story was headed. Just when I'd think I'd figured something out there would be new information and new twists. No matter what you think you know of someone, there's always another explanation! The story was sprinkled with small flashbacks which were done very well.It was like two great stories and mysteries in one book, always leaving you wanting more, but still easy to follow.

When I started this book I'd given it 4/5 stars. It was interesting. I felt sympathetic for Maddie's situation. Without spoiling anything, the story went crazy at the end. I'd have to drop my rating because of how things ended-things felt rushed or not tied up at all. If the story had been more about the mother's issues then the ending may have been more satisfying. For me, Maddie's discovery lets down people with similar conditions.

It was a little difficult for me to follow at first, but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. Legal thriller, true crime and a memoir...can't recommend enough!

Quick read, and sad. I like how it was written. Some things I found hard to believe but I'm trying to put that aside.

I enjoyed this story about a dyslexic boy that was falling through the cracks of the system and a lawyer who was desperately trying to help save him. It was full of detail but the story kept moving along at a fast pace so that I never wanted to put it down. I couldn't wait to see how it all ended!

I keep trying these bookshots but I'm really not sure yet...this one started out great. The characters were well explored and the storyline was interesting at first. But then once again it all came to a rushed end. I'll try another one, but I am wondering if they need to be just a little longer?

Wow! I couldn't put it down...and I finished in two days. I never knew where it was headed but I loved how great the author was at explaining the characters thoughts and feelings.

Felt for the character from the first pages. Couldn't wait to see how it turned out for her.

I think I had trouble relating to and caring for the characters. I liked the idea of the story and the twists but felt something was missing.
