Damaged | Lisa Scottoline
Scottoline writes riveting thrillers that keep me up all night, with plots that twist and turn. Harlan CobenOne boy. One lawyer. One chance for justice.Ten-year-old Patrick O'Brien is a natural target at school. Shy, dyslexic, and small for his age, he tries to hide his first-grade reading level from everyone: from his classmates, from the grandfather who cares for him, and from the teachers who are supposed to help him. But the real trouble begins when Patrick is accused of attacking a school aide. The aide promptly quits and sues the boy, his family, and the school district. Patrick's grandfather turns to the law firm of Rosato & DiNunzio for help and Mary DiNunzio is on the case. Soon Mary becomes Patrick's true champion and his only hope for security and justice. But there is more to the story than meets the eye and Patrick might be more troubled than he seems. With twists at every turn and secrets about the family coming to light, Mary DiNunzio might have found the case that can make her a true protector, or break her heart...With Lisa Scottoline s trademark emotional depth and fast-paced action, "Damaged" will have readers riveted to the last page as they root for the beloved characters and their fight for justice."

As a special education teacher I was instantly drawn in from the start. I spent the day listening to this, carrying my kindle around as I completed chores. A great book.

A great selection from the Rosato and DiNunzio series!

Mary takes on the case of ten-year-old Patrick, who is dyslexic and picked on by his classmates, yet an aide at his school has accused Patrick of attacking him.

Patrick‘s grandfather is determined to see justice carried out for his shy, loving grandson.

Quite a few twists (although not the one I expected!) and I also appreciated the epilogue for this one.

Andrew65 I enjoy this series. 5y

40 Miles 20 Hours Challenge Day 9!!

If you‘re sticking with the challenge to keep moving, nice job! My new totals are 21 miles of walking and over 17 hours of audiobook listening! Woohoo, more than halfway!

Hope everyone had as beautiful weather as me today - last week gave us a rough start!

#40Miles20Hours Day 8!

If you‘re still participating, way to go!! Keep moving and keep reading! If you haven‘t joined yet, it‘s simple - get some audio books and listen up to 20 hours plus go for 40 miles of walks!

Stay positive, Littens.

Today I get to add to both lists and now have 15 hours worth of listening and a total of 17 miles of walking! We can get through this together!

vlwelser Keep it up! 5y

40 Miles 20 Hours Challenge Day 6!

Today was an absolute beautiful day for a walk!

I managed another hour of reading my new audiobook, Damaged, plus three miles of walking. I like this one so far too! I‘m so glad I‘m pushing myself to listen to the Rosato and DiNunzio series.

Oh, my! I flew through this, my first Lisa Scottiline novel. It definitely won‘t be my last. A complex plot centered around a 10yo boy with special needs. As a retired teacher who taught many mainstreamed students and as a former guardian ad litem, I related to this more than I might otherwise, but the story was compelling without that added interest. 4/5⭐️

I'll give this beach read ☆☆☆s.

It is the 4th in the serise but stands find on its own. The plot was predictable but they had me with all the Italian American culture which may seem stereotypical but I can assure you as a 4th gen Italian who grew up in an area we called Little Italy in Illinois it is spot-on!

Once again LISA SCOTTOLINE has knocked it out of the park with this emotional legal thriller. Her writing, research and attention to detail is superb. Mary DiNunzio‘s character is a scrappy and tireless fighter for justice.
action is fast-paced and doesn‘t stop until the last page is turned. https://lharvey250.tumblr.com/post/169577476424/damaged-rosato-and-dinunzio-4-li...

I'm a Philly girl so I love Lisa Scottoline, but this book didn't have the same thrill as her others. It's very well researched about the challenges of low income special needs students and the foster care system in PA, but at times iT felt like an instructional manual on how to adopt rather than a suspense novel. The only real suspense was whether the adoption would happen. The mystery lacked oomph and danger. Despite that it was a pleasant read.

Even if haven‘t read the first 3 novels IT DOES NOT MATTER! This could easily be a standalone novel. A tense story that will have you engaged from start to end. The story revolves around a legal drama but it has moments of action, suspense and sincerity. My favorite so far in the series.

I enjoyed this story about a dyslexic boy that was falling through the cracks of the system and a lawyer who was desperately trying to help save him. It was full of detail but the story kept moving along at a fast pace so that I never wanted to put it down. I couldn't wait to see how it all ended!

This was a good story about an attorney and her case to help ten year old boy who is dyslexic. The boy suffers abuse at school, his mother died years before and he lives with his grandfather. The grandfather dies. The attorney tries her best to help the boy. The story kept me wondering what the outcome would be. I liked the novel.

Just bought a couple of new books for my kindle. I bought "Damaged" and "Betrayed" both by Lisa Scottoline, "Find Her" by Lisa Gardner and "Poisonous" by Allison Brennan. Hopefully its a cold and brutal winter because I love reading in front of the wood stove!!

The ladies of this salon clearly are non-readers. I cracked open this brand spanking new book, stuck my nose in and took a deep breath. When I opened my eyes there were several ladies staring in my direction with looks of bewilderment upon their confused faces. They obviously do not appreciate the smell of a new book! 🤓

An effective legal drama that tugs at the heartstrings while informing. Our little Mary DiNunzio has grown up and is about to get married. Also a compassionate examination about the foster care (broken) system in Philly. Great read!
