Please excuse me, I'm a kaiju groupie
I didn't choose this anthology for the cover, but I do love it.
I've been having trouble focusing lately, and have been reading a LOT of short stories as a result

At my parents and everyone is napping, so I just grabbed a book. Pretty sure this is actually my copy!
How long does it take an ant to crawl from the Southern Reach Headquarters parking lot to the border of Area X?
About 49 pages
Happy (?) St. Mark's Day. Just rereading before Mister Impossible
Been sick for a week, so I'm in bed with tea, my dog, and a comfort read.
I've wanted to read this forever, moving it to the top of my TBR list since the TV show is out now
That's super relevant and disconcerting
"What is this morning--or yesterday afternoon---or last week? We have lived since then."
Might want to embroider this. I just like it
"The claim of “not racist” neutrality is a mask for racism...it‘s important...that we...return the word “racist”...back to its proper usage. “Racist” is not—as Richard Spencer argues—a pejorative...it is not...a slur...the only way to undo racism is to consistently identify & describe it— then dismantle it. The attempt to turn this usefully descriptive term into an almost unusable slur is...designed to do the opposite: to freeze us into inaction."
I concur. Can't sleep facing mirrors either.
I've never actually read A Picture of Dorian Gray, but I am really enjoying this
This book has been out for two weeks and this is the first chance I've had to read it (because I know I'm going to finish it in one sitting). SO excited
So is Hozier like Shelley, or Shelley like Hozier?
The more I learn about Percy Shelley, the more I can't stand him
Listen to the blurbs, SyFy. You can market this to Wynonna Earp fans and you'll have an instant audience
Apparently in Regency England, animals had more rights than women 😡
Bitch. He. Can't. Hear. You. Learn from your mistakes woman.
(I swear I'm enjoying this book, Ceony is just being exceptionally dumb this chapter)
''Yes, you were taught to waste your anger. It's convenient for girls to be angry about nothing. Girls who are angry about something are dangerous.''
''It does no good to fake a conversion of faith. Remember that, my love. The person who wants to burn you alive will find a reason to do it, whether you pretend to agree with them or not.''
No escapism for me, apparently.
"Justice is expensive, that's why there's so little of it...there is a limit to the evil one despot alone can do, and if he is truly vicious he may be overthrown; a hundred corrupt members of Parliament may together do as much injustice or more, and be the less easy to uproot."
When you finish Gentlemen Jack and don't have any 1840s fiction available
This is the only green mug I have, but it's fitting since Maggie is a smartass
Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra
"The seas did not forgive, and they did not welcome their wayward children home."
"Never, ever underestimate the power of nerds". Always good advice
This book is so good. I can't wait to listen to Mallory O'Meara talk at Denver Comic Con #feminism #representation
I've had this book for years and haven't read it yet, even though I knew I'd love it.
This line is a great reminder of how much of women's history is oral. A woman's hands were always supposed to be busy doing the "menial" housework, but they were so often family historians, artisans, and experts in medicine.
Reading Greg Rucka's Batwoman in honor of the new trailer for the CW Batwoman series that posted today. I am ridiculously excited
More depressing, sexist statistics from Hollywood
I grew up loving the work of Ray Harryhausen, so I am SO excited for this book. Especially after this intro:
"It's so difficult to be something if you cannot envision it. To see no way in, to see the world you love populated exclusively with those who are not like you is devastating."
Celebrating #NationalPoetryMonth right before it ends. Edna St. Vincent Millay has been my favorite poet since high school, so I am throughly enjoying her biography (with blueberry muffins, in honor of her New England childhood)
It's already 80° here, so I'm staying inside with homemade affogato and a book #FridayReads
It took me awhile to get into this sequel, just because it was very heavy on navy and ship settings (this is why it took me so long to get this series in the first place). But they're back on land and discussing aviation again.
Mulan, featuring actual dragons.
"Some adventures require nothing more than a willing heart and the ability to trip over the cracks in the world"
I just want to quote this whole book ?
