This is a very delightful book! I got hooked from the beginning. It opened my mind to the possibility of extra-terrestrial life, something that barely ever racks my brains.

H. G. Wells showed that in the face of great danger, human beings are bound to throw their morality and ethics in the wind and will only care about themselves. Also, people tend to be very irritable under pressure. 😅

"Off we skip like the most heartless things in the world, which is what children are, but so attractive; and we have an entirely selfish time, and then when we have need of special attention we nobly return for it, confident we shall be rewarded instead of smacked."

And that's the thing about people who mean everything they say. They think everyone does too.
