The best kind of early autumn Saturday evening.
Hungrily devoured to fill the void left by finishing Truly Devious. Also enjoyed with the same quirky fun and slight spookiness. So many answers but even more questions - I had to google to be reassured that a third book is expected!!! But when ? - cos I need it now. Another 4 out of 5 stars for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A fun and gripping read. Quirky interesting characters and a spooky eclectic background with hints of boarding school, 1930‘s prohibition, a little bit Gatsby and lots of YA charm. My only complaint was the cliffhanger ending - eased only by the immediate Kindle purchase of the sequel. A 4 stars out of 5 for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am hooked. You guys have to read these books. I hope Jessica Townsend is nearly finished book 3. I read these aloud to my kids. I loved them just as much as they did. Fun, funny, magical and complex. An intricately woven mysterious world of wondrous possibilities. So fresh and innovative. It‘s a 5 stars out of 5 from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was a quick and enjoyable read, for me a 3 stars out of 5. Likeable characters but so much grief and it all felt a little too easily wrapped up at the end - especially with regards to the main character who was not as well written in terms of character development compared to some of the other characters in the book. Now I need something cheerful to read !!!
I enjoyed this book. The writing was beautiful. A glance into the power trade offs within this marriage and the concept of the wife as a caretaker.
