Reading this now. It‘s good, building suspense at a nice pace, keeping me on my toes trying to figure out who the murderers are. Don‘t like any of the characters though😩

LOVED this one! First published in 1944. Wonderful characters and atmosphere. Large estate, snow storm, dead bodies, mysterious woman, Is anyone as they seem? Solid plot with clever ending. Must read for lovers of vintage mysteries.

Dark chilling story! Not one likable character in the book but they were so well written! Very good read.

The Murder of My Aunt | Richard Hull

A 1934 inverted mystery. A strange little story but well written. Desperately unlikable characters, but I think that was a plus in this story. You really couldn‘t wait to see them ‘get what‘s coming to them‘! Edward is a particularly nasty piece of work and he is keeping a diary about how he is trying to murder his Aunt Mildred. It‘s quite hilarious! The unsuspecting twist at the end is well worth the read!

Originally published in 1928. Dover Books, my copy, republished in 1983. I‘ve wanted this book for years and it is very hard to come by. Had it in my wishlist at Paperbackswap never dreamed I‘d get a copy! But I did! It was slow starting for me. I almost quit. Thank goodness I didn‘t because I ended up really enjoying it! His writing is very descriptive with lovely words. More plot driven than character, which is why it was slow for me. Excellent!

Never published in the US. Written in 1939. Delia Cathcart & Major Willoughby disappear from their quiet English village one Saturday morning in 1937, it looks like a simple case of frustrated spinster running off for a bit of fun with a straying husband. But as the hours turn into days, Inspector Guy Northeast begins to suspect foul play. Delia led a secret life! Guy turns up more than 1 person who would like her dead! Loved it!

Murder on the Links | Agatha Christie

Read this during a week at Hilton Head where my husband golfs to his hearts content so thought it was appropriate! Agatha Christie is wonderful. Never read one of her books yet that didn‘t entertain. This one is set in France. Poirot gets a letter asking him for help but when he gets to France the man has just been murdered. Previous unsolved murder is brought into play. Wonderful twists and turns in this one!

This was a very interesting style of book. Each chapter is named a year and focuses on one person from the village. They all tie nicely together to give us the story of the inhabitants of a small Austrian village beginning before WWII and through the 70‘s. A new setting for me and a highly enjoyable read!

Set during WWII this was a wonderful story of family relationships and how the war changed lives. I had a hard time putting the book down. There was a lot of everyone sleeping with everyone but no sex described. The movie version is on Acorn right now.
