This is one crazy book I ever read. I have to reread it a few time and still could not see the big picture. There is 11 short stories in the book but somehow all 11 stories has a connection with each other. The story are somewhat creepy but there are some just Murakamish. I also did some Googling and some one did chart out the entirety of all 11 stories but I'd suggest you read the book first before seeing the chart ( text me if you want it).

This is my first historical novel. The story has a very interesting view of war from the prospective of woman. Most war literature are focus mainly from man's POV. The story is tragic and yet full hope. A great example of how we only know what we are capable of in time of desperation. Almost shed a tear near the end.

TrishB I did shed one at the end! 7y

Kafka on the Shore | Haruki Murakami

I took a couple of weeks to finish this one. It's an interesting story of weirdness, love, and incest. What I feel about this book is that Murakami wanted to tells a story that is not so straightforward. I think he wanted to challenge the reader to think about what is going on. The ending is not perfect. There is lots of question left hanging. But then again it's Murakami.

I think everyone who read would had read this book. It's a classic that creates a lot of controversial in the 80s. It's the one book that immortalized Jerome David Salinger in the literary world. It's a simple to read book that written in ways that normal American teenager talks. It's brutally honest and everyone who read it can easily relate to it especially those growing up and struggling to find their identity.

I only get to know this book after I saw the movie trailer. I didn't know it's an adaptation. So I brought it and finished it ASAP before I got see the film. The story was interesting if you are into Harry Potter and X-Men. I feel that it can be a little bit darker but then I realize it can't since this is suppose to be for teenager or Young Adult as it was categorized. Anyway I'm still contemplating about getting the 2nd and 3th book.

scripturient I actually liked the second and third books better. The first one always left me with the impression that it's an introduction to more (which it is of course) and not at all like a complete story. 8y
RahmanYii I have just seen the film and I like it better than the book. 8y

Inferno: A Novel | Dan Brown

I finished this book within 3 days. I wanted to finish it before the film came out. It's definitely better then The Lost Symbol. It's as always very fast pace book and every chapter is very short. I notice that Dan Brown love short chapter, and each chapter kept you in suspense. The story was well researched and it's historical background is interesting. And as always there's a twist at the end.

MrBook Great review! I liked this one as well 😊👍🏻. 8y

I read this book when I'm still in my teen. A very touching true story of a Chinese girl growing up in a typical middle class Chinese family in Shanghai. It's a story of the struggle being born a girl in Chinese society, and most importantly how she manage to come up with sheer determination. This books also paint a picture how the Chinese manage to adapt in any situation in any country and be successful.

I finished this one yesterday for my book club review tomorrow. And what a coincident that the story is very similar with Murakami Norwegian Wood. It's also a love story but deal more on teenage suicide issue. I'm usually not into love story but for the past week I've finish 2. I also read somewhere that they are going to adapt this book into a film staring Elle Fanning. But I don't think I'm going to watch it.

MrBook Nice review! 😊👍🏻 8y

This is a completely different Murakami. I went in with an expectation of some strange and magical story but it turns out to be a love story. It's still good and I heard this is one of his most popular book.

MrBook Welcome to @Litsy ! We hope you enjoy your stay, I think you'll like it here 😎👍🏻. 8y
