One from the massive TBR, a heart-rending memoir.
“A harrowing story of emotional cruelty.” The Times called it.
Just dropped some books at the Little Free Library I recently found. I chose the first two because I read them awhile ago and loved them, but they aren‘t really rereads for me. So I figure why not share the love?
IDK where the Halo one came from but I‘m hoping maybe one of the local teens will like it, there are lots of them around here.
How do you decide what to leave at your LFL?
#fallingleaves #stonebutchblues #littlefreelibrary
1. Not because I hated it but one of the characters made me really mad. This is one of the most memorable memoirs I've ever read.
2. Home.
3. Asked some1 if she was preggars. She answered 'no' then jokingly said, 'I know I look like it' and laughed. I thanked my lucky stars she didn't take it to heart. Learned my lesson. Never asked anyone that question anymore.
4. Rain. Sea breeze. Coffee. Bakery!
5. Gray romance.

1 Book down 2 more to go. #24b42019 #readathon #LitsyAtoZ2018 24/26
I just have to say that Adeline‘s family members were just undeserving, greedy, and jealous a-holes. Ugh!!! She loved unconditionally and all she got for it was stabs on the back throughout her life. The only ones who loved her (her grandparents, aunt Baba, and Great Aunt) couldn‘t protect her.
It‘s a story of an unwanted Chinese daughter who just wanted to be accepted, loved, and bring pride to her family. It‘s a sad #mustread. #LitsyAtoZ2018 #F
Not as many hours as I had hoped, but it‘s still a decent amount for the first day of the #24b42019 #readathon.
Before I even hit page 100 I had already cried twice while reading this. I feel for Adeline, I wish I could reach out to her and give her a hug along with some reassuring words. 😢

Couldn‘t sleep so I walked back downstairs to the kitchen to make myself some sleepy time tea. I‘m sipping from my banned books mug as I read a few pages from this memoir.

Felt like the right time (the book title) to share one of my fav reads of all time!
Enjoy fall everyone! I lurrrrrve fall! 🍂🍁🥧
1. Interchangeable. Probably use FALL the most.
2. Cider from the cider mill. And Caramel Apple Milky Ways.
3. I would have a panic attack in a corn maze. So, hayride! Which I could do at the cider mill.
4. Yes! That same cider mill is an orchard and you take the hay ride to the trees to pick!
5. Love it! It sure has gotten out of hand though.

This was so enjoyable. Touching, tragic and triumphant 👌🏻
Such a sad book. I can‘t believe how someone can have this much of hatred towards a child to torture her, physically and emotionally so. If you haven‘t read this yet, I implore you to do so. This book deserve five stars and nothing less.
#nowreading Falling Leaves by #AdelineYenMah. Had this book for the longest time. Finally took it off the #toberead pile. 😊 #asianlit
Bawled. My. Eyes. Out.
(Read back in 1998)
A “Red book” pic from my TBR jar. My eyes kind of glazed over when the author wrote about political changes in China. But lots of family drama and overall a pick. I think I need a palate cleanser after this and my current audiobook though. This one came from my library sale, a bargain at 25 cents.
#fallleaves #spookyoctober the leaves are falling here. Now if the collectors would pick them up.
Such a great autobiography! Adeline's story was inspiring and filled with courage, determination and strength. This book gives us a great insight on the political history of 20th century China and Hong Kong. But the main focus of the story is on the author's family, her mother who passed away soon after she was born, her father, a good man but smitten by her step mother(an evil woman who ruined all their lives), and her siblings who outcasted her.
Hoping to finish this one today!! 💙
Dilemma😑 To read this beautiful book or my boring textbook!!😢
Happy weekend everyone💕 What are you reading this weekend?

I don't read a ton of memoirs, but I've been working on this one off and on for a while. It's beautiful but so sad. #booktober
I read this book when I'm still in my teen. A very touching true story of a Chinese girl growing up in a typical middle class Chinese family in Shanghai. It's a story of the struggle being born a girl in Chinese society, and most importantly how she manage to come up with sheer determination. This books also paint a picture how the Chinese manage to adapt in any situation in any country and be successful.
